Map My Selection Tool

With the Map My Selection tool, you can plot and filter a selection of addresses (including those with Apt/Suite numbers) on an interactive map.

  • The tool is available on multiple pages and you can launch it with a selection of records in Grid Layout.
  • You can also map selections on a subpage. Select the records from the subpage, transfer the selection to a main page, and then launch the tool.
  • You can map up to 1,000 records at a time.
  • Filter addresses by Engagement Level, Congregation or Parish, Participant Type, or Gender.
  • Color-coded map points display based on Congregation or Parish, Participant Type, Gender, and Last Household Activity.
  • Click one or more map points to save that selection back to the Contacts page. You can also hold the Shift key down then click and drag across the desired area to select multiple map points.
  • Zoom in to see each map point. Hover over one to see the names of individuals at that location.
  • If you need to print the map, you can take a screenshot of the area you want and paste it into a document or image editor.

Note: SPoCs can grant user access to this tool.

Map My Selection Tool Configuration Settings

This tool relies on several configuration settings:

COMMON, GoogleMapsAPIKey

Obtain a Google Maps API Key. Next, add or update the key in your configuration setting. Make sure you don't have any spaces before or after the values in the configuration setting. Then, grant individuals access to the tool using the Security Roles and Tool permissions.

Plot Records on a Map

  1. From a relevant page, with Grid Layout selected, make your selection. The page you select from determines which addresses you plot:
    • Households Page: Displays the Household Name and Address.
    • Groups Page: Displays the Group Name and the group's Offsite Meeting Address.
    • Events Page: Displays the Event Name and the event's Location address.
    • All other pages: Displays the Household Address associated with the selected individuals.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Map My Selection.
    The tool displays how many records to include on the map.
  3. If there are any records that you can't process, the number displays. Click Save Error Data to save these records to a selection to review later.
    Note: You may receive an error if you use the List Layout when you make your selection. Click Cancel and close the tool to go back to your selection. Then, switch to Grid Layout, and launch the tool again.
  4. Click Load to view the map.
  5. Click and drag to navigate the map. To zoom in and out, use the + and - buttons on the map or use your mouse's scroll bar. Hover over a pin to see more information about the record.
  6. To filter the map, click >> at the top left.
    • You can see all available Congregations, Engagement Levels, Participant Types, or Genders that make up your selection of records.
    • The plotted addresses display with different colored pins to denote the different filters.
    • Select None to see all records with no Congregation, Engagement Level, Participant Type, or Gender.
  7. To select all the pins in a certain area, hold the Shift key then click and drag your cursor across the area.
  8. To save a new selection with the selected pins, click Save Selection.
  9. When you're finished viewing the map, click Close.
