Opt Out of Messages

  • Individuals should always be able to opt out of receiving bulk emails or text messages from the Platform.
  • You can indicate whether an individual is willing to receive messages. On the Contact record, under the Communication Preferences section, there are two relevant fields: Bulk Email Opt Out and Do Not Text.
  • Authenticated users can opt out of bulk communication by going to My Profile through the Login Widget and selecting the Do not send me bulk email messages check box.
  • Authenticated users can opt out of emails related to My Subscriptions by going to the widget and selecting the Do not send me bulk email messages check box.
  • Individuals who receive a text message can opt out by replying to the message with an opt-out keyword (Stop, Stopall, Unsubscribe, Cancel, End, or Quit). They can opt back in at any time by replying with an opt-in keyword (Start, Yes, or Unstop).
    Important: Opt out and opt in messages are ONLY recorded in the Platform if you set up inbound messages. See Add a Webhook for Inbound Messages for information on adding the necessary webhook so your audience is able to opt out.
Note: These settings do not affect View Notifications. Users who have opted out will still receive notifications that are set up to go to them.

Including Bulk Email Opt-Outs

There's an option in the New Message Tool to Include recipients who have opted out of bulk email. If you select this check box, you can include contacts who have opted out of bulk email as Message Recipients. By default, this option is cleared, and messages are not sent to those who have opted out.

CAUTION: To send a message to someone who has opted out of receiving bulk emails, you must select the check box. We recommend you do this sparingly or only for very important messages that those who have opted out really need to be aware of.
