Manage Created Messages

Yikes! That message wasn't supposed to say that! Ever been there? Thankfully, you can edit or cancel sent or scheduled Messages. You might need to act quickly, so we suggest you brush up on these tricks before you need them.

When you click Send in the New Message tool, Message records simultaneously create and render as individual Recipient Messages. These Recipient records are the records you can edit or cancel.

Note: You must take action while the message is still in the Ready to Send status. If the message status is already Sent, you can't cancel it. A routine runs every one to five minutes to check if there are new Messages to send, so act quickly! If you scheduled your message to send, you have until the scheduled send time to edit or cancel it.

Cancel a Message from Messages

If you have the appropriate permission, you can cancel a Message from the Messages page.

  • You must have edit rights on the Messages page to do this.
  1. In the navigation menu, click Communications > Messages.
  2. Open the Message record you want to cancel, and change the status to Draft.
  3. Click the My Messages tab, and select the My Drafts view to find the Message.
  4. Select the Message(s) to cancel.
  5. From the Actions menu, select Delete.

Cancel a Message from My Messages

You can cancel your message from the My Messages tab on the Home page.

  • The message you want to cancel must be in the Ready to Send status.
CAUTION: Do not archive messages from the Ready to Send view on the My Messages tab.
  1. In the navigation menu, click Home, then click the My Messages tab.
  2. Select the Ready to Send view to find the Message record you want to modify.
  3. Select the message(s) you want to cancel.
    Note: If you open your Ready to Send message, the Recipient selection clears, which means there's no one to send it to. Mission accomplished!
  4. From the Actions menu, select Cancel Scheduled Message.

The message moves to the My Drafts view.

Modify a Message

If you act quickly, you can change the content of a Message after you click send.

To change a Message, you must modify it from My Messages.

Note: Editing the Message record does not update the Message that is sent.
  1. From the Home page, click the My Messages tab.
  2. Select the Ready to Send view to find the Message record you want to modify.
  3. Open the Message record.
  4. The recipient selection clears when you open your message. Choose your recipients again:
    • Make a selection using the search list, or
    • Select the Global Filter page that your selection is on from the drop-down list.
  5. Edit your message content.
  6. Click Send, and select Send.

View a Ready to be Sent Message

To see who your Message is scheduled to send to, check the All Recipients page or use this method.

Sometimes, you may want confirm your Message is ready to send so you can fully enjoy your vacation without that nagging question in the back of your mind. Remember:
  • The Ready to be Sent view does not show recipients, so you'll see the Message itself but not who will receive it.
  • The Recipient list remains as long as you do not edit a Message. If you modify your Message, you must reselect the recipient list.
  1. Go to Communications > Messages.
  2. Open the Message record.
  3. Click the Recipients tab.
