Set ID and Envelope Number Options

You can select how to display and assign ID/Envelope numbers for families and members.

  1. On the File menu in your PDS program, click Setup > ID Number Options.
  2. Select an option for displaying second IDs in the Families window.
  3. To allow PDS users view the second ID number but not change it, select Don't Allow Changes.
    Tip: If you sync information with your diocese, you may want to select this since dioceses often reference the second ID.
  4. To automatically assign family ID/Envelope numbers or second ID numbers, select the corresponding Automatically assign... checkbox, and enter the number that you want to start with.
    Note: Only numeric values can be assigned this way. Do not select to automatically assign values if your IDs contain letters or other characters.
  5. Click Save/OK.

When you add a new family or member record, you can check for the next available ID/Envelope number by clicking Avail? next to the ID Number field.
