BMT Configuration

Learn more about security roles, global filters, and scanning service and how they impact the BMT.

You can use the Batch Manager Tool from any machine with internet access. However, using a scanner with the Batch Manager Tool requires a Windows 10 (Pro or Enterprise) or 11 machine with Microsoft .NET 4.5.2 or newer installed to use the Batch Manager Scanning Service.

Security Roles

Warning: Do not edit these security roles. Doing so could cause the Batch Manager Tool to not work properly.

To log in to Batch Manager Tool, you need one of the following security roles for your User account in MinistryPlatform:

  • Batch Manager Administrators: This role allows you to see, edit, and finalize all un-finalized donation batches.
  • Batch Manager Operators: This role allows you to only see, edit, and finalize un-finalized donation batches that they created or are assigned to.
  • Batch Manager Pledges: This is an add-on role that allows Batch Manager Administrators and Batch Manager Operators to use the Pledges & Donations tab.
    • If you assign this role to a Batch Manager Administrator, it enables them to use the Pledges & Donations tab to see, edit, and finalize all un-finalized pledge batches.
    • If you assign this role to a Batch Manager Operator, it enables them to use the Pledges & Donations tab to see, edit, and finalize un-finalized pledge batches that they created or are assigned to.
  • Batch Manager Diocese: This an add-on role that allows those assigned to it to search the BMT by donor code, rather than by envelope number.

Global Filters

For users that only work with specific congregations, you can limit their access to these congregations through global filters. Any global filters applied affect both the Platform and the Batch Manager Tool. Global filter access is cumulative, meaning if you grant a user access to three congregations, they see data related to any and all of those congregations. Global filters impact the following areas in the Batch Manager Tool:

Scanning Service

The first time you log in to the Batch Manager Tool on a machine, you'll see the Scanner Not Ready dialog box.

Image showing the Scanner Not Ready dialog box.

If you plan to manually enter your donations, you don't need to install the scanner. Click No Scanner. And don't worry - if you don't set up the scan service right away, you can find this dialog box again when you open a batch and click the Scan button to scan checks. To use a check scanner to speed up processing and capture images, follow the instructions to do so.

Note: If you already installed the scanning service and receive the dialog box, the scanning service has been removed, disabled, or was not installed by a local admin. You'll need to walk through the initial configuration steps again.
