Assigning Dollars

Learn how the Batch Manager Tool processes check amounts and donation totals using CAR/LAR technology, and the logic it follows for any discrepancies.

The Batch Manager Tool (BMT) has state-of-the-art Check Amount Recognition/Legal Amount Recognition (CAR/LAR) technology. If you scan checks, the BMT automatically reads the amount from the check image and enters your donation total. If you import donations from a file, the BMT also enters the donation total.

The BMT compares the CAR/LAR, and if there is a discrepancy between the two, it uses the following logic to select which one to auto-populate as the amount for the donation:

Note: Keep in mind "is readable" means it has a high accuracy probability.

If the BMT can't read the total or you manually entered the donation, add the appropriate donation total. Then you can distribute the donation total to the appropriate programs.
