Group Communication

Explore a variety of tools and methods to effectively communicate with your groups, including messaging tools, group participant pages, and notification routines within MinistryPlatform.

Send a Message to a Group

From the Group record:
  1. In the navigation menu, click Groups.
  2. Open the group's record.
  3. Click the Participants tab, and select the participants to contact.
  4. From the Actions menu, select Message.
  5. Send the message using the New Message Tool.
From the Group Participants page:
  1. In the navigation menu, click People Lists > Group Participants.
  2. Create a selection using a search or page view.
    Note: You can use the New Message Tool immediately, but note that a person might get multiple emails as the emails are sent "one per group role" rather than "one per person". This is because you can use merge fields to communicate with a person about their role in the group. If you want to send one email per person, no matter their role, transfer your selection to the Participants page before using the New Message Tool.
Use the Selected Group Call List:
  1. In the navigation menu, click Groups.
  2. Select one or more Group records.
  3. Use the Selected Group Call List report to create a selection of those in the groups on the Participants page.
  4. In the navigation menu, click Participants or Members.
  5. Change your selection to the one created by the report.
  6. Use the New Message Tool.
Only the Parents of Selected Group Participants:
  1. In the navigation menu, click Groups.
  2. Select one or more Group records.
  3. Open the New Message Tool, and select Send to Parents.
    This sends a message to those defined as a Household member with the Position of "Head of Household" with a valid email address or mobile phone number and is not inactive/deceased.
Only the Group's Primary Contact:
  1. In the navigation menu, click Groups.
  2. Select one or more Group records.
  3. Open the New Message Tool, and change the Recipients to Contact(s) Associated With Selected Groups. This person can, in turn, select the most effective means of communicating the information to the groups they coordinate.

Group Connect Emails & Texts

Group participants with a Leader Group Role Type can send email or text messages to their group participants through Group Connect. See Group Connect Communication for details.

Mailing Labels for Groups

You can create mailing labels from the Groups page. Select one or more groups, then click the Reports menu, and select the Selected Group Nametags - Avery 5160 report. Also see Bulk Mail.
