Group Communication

There are lots of options for communicating with your groups. Pick the one that works best for you!

New Message Tool

From the Group Record:

Go to Groups, and open the group's record. Click the Participants tab, and select the participants to contact. Make sure you've cleared any previous selections. Use the transfer option to move your selection to the Participants page. Then, use the New Message Tool to send the message.

From the Group Participants Page:

Go to People Lists > Group Participants, and create a selection using a search or page view. You can use the New Message Tool immediately, but note that a person might get multiple emails as the emails are sent "one per group role" rather than "one per person". This is because merge fields are available and can be used to communicate with a person about their role in the group. If you want to send one email per person, no matter their role, transfer your selection to the Participants page before using the New Message Tool.

Using the Selected Group Call List:

Go to Groups, and select one or more Group records. Use the Selected Group Call List report to create a selection of those in the groups on the Participants page. Navigate to the Participants page, and change your selection to the one created by the report. Then, use the New Message Tool.

Only the Parents of Selected Group Participants:

Go to Groups, and select one or more Group records. Launch the New Message Tool, and select Send to Parents. This sends a message to those defined as a Household member with the Position of "Head of Household" who has a valid email address or mobile phone number and is not inactive/deceased.

Only the Group's Primary Contact:

Go to Groups, and select one or more Group records. Launch the New Message Tool, and change the Recipients to Contact(s) Associated With Selected Groups. This person can, in turn, choose the most effective means of communicating the information to the groups they coordinate.

Through GroupLife

Group participants with a Group Role Type of "Leader" can send email or text messages (if they are permitted) to their group participants via GroupLife. See GroupLife Communication for details.

Upcoming Service Times Reminder

Use the Group Notification Routine to remind members of upcoming service times.

Mailing Labels

Select one or more groups, and run the "Selected Group Nametags - Avery 5160" report to create mailing labels.
