New User Checklist

Did your administrator set you up as a user in this program, then expect you to know what to do? If PDS has already been set up, but you are new to it, review the New User Checklist to learn about using the program and getting help. You can check off each item as you complete it.

On the Home Screen, click New User Checklist to view the checklist. This button displays by default for new users. To hide the button, click the My Settings icon blue outline of computer monitor on the Quick Access toolbar. Then on the Home Screen tab, clear the Show the New User Checklist Button option.

Review the Checklist

Once your administrator adds you as a program user, review the following:

☑ Click the tabs on the ribbon bar to navigate to major parts of the program. On each tab, click the icons to move to a window. On the Transactions tab, you can view and enter transactions for income, expenses, and journal entries, import data, and perform end-of-period procedures. On the Other Information tab, view the Chart of Accounts and enter data related to income sources, vendors and payees, fixed assets, and bank accounts. If you have the Payroll module, you can set up employees, employers, and tax information on the Payroll tab. On the Reports tab, you can create and print reports. On the Administration tab, you can set up funds and work with users and passwords. The File menu provides other features and utilities.

☑ Above the ribbon bar is a row of icons called the Quick Access Toolbar. This includes some navigation shortcuts for back and forward, clipboard tools for undo, cut, copy, paste, and additional helpful tools. Hover over each icon for a short description.

☑ The online User Guide provides instructions for using the program. On the File menu, click User Guides > User Guide. Check out the Get Started section for program tips.

☑ To view online Help (what you're reading right now) from within the program, click the help icon white question mark in blue circle or press F1 on your keyboard. A specific topic from the User Guide displays in your default browser and provides information about the program window you're on. Try going to several different windows and opening the Help.
