Reassign or Copy a Parent/Guardian
You can reassign a parent or guardian to another family, create a new family record using their information, or copy the individual's information to a new record. For example, if a student's parents separate, divorce, or no longer live together, you can reassign one parent to a new family while retaining the connection to the student's record.
Reassigning a parent/guardian means you move their entire record from one family to another.
Reassign a Parent/Guardian
- On the Information tab, click Parents & Guardians. Locate the appropriate record, then click Reassign/Copy Parent/Guard..
- Select whether to create a new family record or add the parent/guardian to an existing family.
- Enter or select the ID number or family name.
- If needed, select the checkbox to copy addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses from the old family record.
- When you're ready, click Reassign Parent/Guardian.
The "original" record is moved to the family you selected.
Copy a Parent/Guardian
- On the Information tab, click Parents & Guardians. Locate the appropriate record, then click Reassign/Copy Parent/Guard..
- Select to copy the parent/guardian's information into a new record in either a new family or an existing family.
- Enter or select the ID number or family name.
- If needed, select the checkbox to copy addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses from the old family record.
- When you're ready, click Copy Member.
You are taken back to the "original" record. To view the copied record, locate the other family you selected.
