Cancel an Event
Instructions to edit the Event record to cancel an Event, including what happens when you cancel the Event and steps you may need to take after you cancel it.
Sometimes things change, and you may need to cancel your carefully planned Event. Or maybe you need to cancel a stray or duplicate Event that ended up on your calendar. Never fear! Simply edit a few fields to cancel an Event.
- Go to the the Events page.
- Search for and open the Event.
- In the General tab, click Edit Record.
- Set the Cancelled field to Yes.
- If the Event has active registration, set Registration Active to No.
- Update the Description and/or Meeting Instructions as needed.
- Click Save.
- The system adds ***CANCELLED*** to the beginning of the Event Title.
- The Event's Room Reservations set Cancelled to Yes, and the system adds **CANCELLED** to the Notes.
- The Event's Equipment Reservations set Cancelled to Yes, and the system adds **CANCELLED** to the Notes.
- The Event's Services Reservations set Cancelled to Yes, and the system adds **CANCELLED** to the Notes.
- If applicable, the Event is removed from Check-In Suite.
Did your event require payment? You must decide how to handle those payments. Some registrants may request a refund, and others may request you change it to a donation.

What happens if you un-cancel an Event? As long as you didn't manually edit the Title of the Event or reservations, the system removes the ***Cancelled*** text and displays the original Event title. Allow a few minutes before making further changes to the Event, as the "undo" overwrites new changes to the title.
