Media Manager

An introduction to the Media Manager in PocketPlatform.

The Media Manager brings you the power and flexibility of a world-class Content Delivery Network for hosting and serving your sermons! It provides direct links to a compressed, efficient MP4, m3u8 playlist, MP3 audio file, and even a text transcription — all from just uploading a single source video file!

After a newly uploaded sermon video has completed processing, both the audio and video version are automatically assigned to the appropriate sermon. All you need to do is publish the completed attachments and you're good to go.

Note:
  • Media Manager supports 1080 files. A 4K file will be too large to be processed.
  • Media Manager stores files in Amazon AWS S3, so you don't need to worry about your server storage capacity!

Upload a Sermon File to Media Manager

  1. Go to PocketPlatform > Sermons.
  2. Select the sermon you want to upload a file for.
  3. From the Tools menu, select Media Manager.
  4. Select your file source(s) by clicking and dragging it into the box or clicking to select a file.
Note: The maximum file size allowed is 10GB.

  8. If you're ready for the link(s) to display in the app, they must have a status of "Published".
    1. On the Sermon record, click the Links tab, and open the Link record.
    2. Click Edit, and set the Status to Published.

Links Generated

A brief list of the link types you can generate with the Sermon Media Manager in PocketPlatform.

  • MP3 and MP4: The Media Manager selects these two options by default. All other files are based off of the MP4 format. If you want to make the video streamable, select HLS. The MP3 selection generates a link with a Sermon Link Type of "Listen" and ends in .mp3.
Note: PocketPlatform apps do not serve the MP4 files.
  • HLS: To generate a video link, select this option. Be sure to select this if you're using the Roku and Apple TV apps. The HLS selection generates a link with a Sermon Link Type of "Watch" and ends in .m3u8.
  • Transcription: This is an optional service that will not display for everyone. Unless you want to use the transcription file, do not select this option. The transcription process is resource heavy and can slow the overall processing time. To enable this option, contact Support.
