Reading Plans

You can add one or more Reading Plans to your PocketPlatform Dashboard. Reading Plans are a great tool for engaging your community and encouraging your Congregation to read through scriptures together. Each Reading Plan can be assigned multiple Reading Plan Days. And each Reading Plan Day has a Date, Title, and Scripture passage.

Create a Reading Plan

The Reading Plan is the container that holds all of the days together. It could be an annual plan or based on a topic or sermon series.

  1. Go to PocketPlatform > Reading Plans.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the Reading Plan title.
  4. Click Save.

Create a Reading Plan Day

  1. In the navigation menu, click PocketPlatform > Reading Plan Days.
  2. Click New Reading Plan Day.
  3. Select the Reading Plan.
  4. For Reading Plan Day, enter a numerical value that represents the day of the reading plan.
For the third day of the reading plan, enter 3.
  5. Select the Date the scripture should be read.
  6. For Passages, enter the scripture versus associated with that day's reading.
Note: We currently support the American Standard Version (ASV) and English Standard Version (ESV). ASV is the default, but if you'd like to use ESV, contact Support.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Repeat these steps until all of the days for the Reading Plan have been added.

You can then create a Dashboard recipe or a Navigation link to open a specific Reading Plan. The app displays all Reading Plan Days that are today or older in a list with the Title, Date, and list of scriptures. When the user clicks the Reading Plan Day, it loads those scriptures.

Add Reading Plans to Your Dashboard

Once your Reading Plan and associated days are configured, you can add them to your dashboard using a recipe or an app link. The app displays all Reading Plan Days that are today's reading and older. They show the title, date, and list of scriptures for clarity.

Manage Reading Plans

At the start of a new year (or any other new beginning), you may want to change how your Reading Plans display on your dashboard. For example, you might be showing last year's plan and have now created a new plan for this year, and you want to remove last year's plan altogether.

What you need to do depends on how your dashboard is set up, so here are tips for different scenarios. If needed, contact Support for help.
  • If you have a recipe or navigation menu item that links to a specific Reading Plan, you can create a new plan and update the link in the recipe or navigation. For example, change the link from the old Reading Plan ID = 1 to the new Reading Plan ID = 2.
  • If you're using the screen that displays all Reading Plans and you want to show or hide certain ones, we recommend creating a List of Lists instead. This way, you don't have to delete any records or lose any valuable Action information for users. Your List of Lists can present links to the specific plans you want to display.
  • A List of Lists can provide a way to sort different Reading Plans. For example, if you have last year's plan and want to keep it while also displaying this year's plan, you can sort them so that this year displays first, at the top of the screen.
