Group Maps

The Groups Map view offers a way to present community and small group offerings to your congregation.

App users can view the location of groups on a map so they can find one that's close to their home, work, school, or other convenient location. You can configure your groups to display as pins on the Groups Map.

In order for a group to display on the map:
  • The Group record must not have an End Date.
  • The Group record must have an Offsite Meeting Address entered.
  • The associated Address record must have Latitude and Longitude values set.

Add an Address to Your Group

If you're group meets off-site, like at someone's house, add that address to the Offsite Meeting Address field on the Group record.

To add a pin to the Group Map, you'll need to add the Latitude and Longitude to the Address record associated with your group. You can manually add the values for each address, or the Geocode Utility can add them for you.

  2. Search for the address.
  3. Right-click the pinpoint for the address on the map.
  4. Click the latitude and longitude values that display in the list to copy them.
  5. In MinistryPlatform, open the appropriate Address record.
Note: From the Group record, you can click the jump link beside the Address to quickly open the record.
  6. Click Edit Record, and add the Latitude (first number in your copied pair) and the Longitude (second number in your copied pair).
  7. Click Save.
