Group Chat
The Group Chat tool allows your Groups to communicate right in the app! Any group in MinistryPlatform can be enabled for Group Chat, and then the currently active group members can create conversations and send each other messages without relying on third party tools.
Enable Group Chat
Disable Group Chat
- Go to .
- Select the group that will no longer be allowed to chat.
- Click Edit Record.
- Set Group Enabled to No.
- Click Save.
Use Group Chat in the App
Once a user belongs to a group with Group Chat enabled, they can interact with their fellow group members.
Group Chat displays the user's nickname, if available, instead of the first name.
- Tap your picture to access the User Menu.
- Select My Group Chat.
- Select the group you'd like to chat with, if you're in multiple groups with Group Chat enabled.
- Select the conversation if the group has multiple conversations, or select Create New Conversation.
- Enter your message, and click Post Message.
Delete a Message or Conversation
Rather than delete these, we recommend reassigning a conversation to a hidden group. This way, the conversation and messages no longer display to anyone, but they are not lost forever in case you need them later.
Reassign a Conversation
Rather than deleting a conversation, we recommend reassigning it. That way, you can still see it if you need it later.
- Make sure you've added a hidden group where you can keep old conversations.
- Go to .
- Locate and open the record of the relevant conversation and group.
- Edit the record, and set the group to the hidden group.
- Click Save.
