Journeys and Milestones

An overview of Journeys and Milestones in MinistryPlatform, including common Journeys and Milestones and examples.

  • A Milestone is an important date or accomplishment by a church member. This important date or accomplishment has meaning many months and years after it takes place. It may be a prerequisite for other accomplishments or Milestones.
    • Common Milestones include: Salvation decision, baptism, church membership date, and approved to serve.
  • A Journey is a collection of Milestones.
    • Common Journeys include: Spiritual formation, assimilation, application to serve.
  • You can create your own Journeys and Milestones based on your church contact. Not sure where to start? Consider these examples:
    • For baptism, you may have a Journey called "Baptism", with Milestones of "Baptism Needed", "Baptism Class", "Baptism Interview", "Baptism Testimony", and "Baptism Service".
    • For church membership, you may have a Journey called "Membership", with Milestones of "Membership Class", "Membership Interview", "Signed Church Covenant", and "Membership Service".
  • Journeys and Milestones are often used to track guests through the assimilation process. To view who has which Milestone, you can either:
    • Go to the Milestones page, open the Milestone, and click the Participants tab.
    • Go to People Lists > Milestones Assigned.
