SecureGive

When people make donations to your organization through SecureGive, SecureGive automatically sends the corresponding transaction data into MinistryPlatform.

Cost

There is no charge from ACS Technologies for configuring the integration.

Fees from SecureGive are assessed as per each church's individual contract agreement.

Donor Matching

Successful transactions receive an Export status of Pending inSecureGive. This Pending status only refers to the API upload status, not the processing of the transaction. You need to link the SecureGive member to their MinistryPlatform donor record. Once linked, those transactions upload nightly to MinistryPlatform and the Pending status changes to Uploaded. If it stays as Pending or changes to ReQueued, click the transaction in SecureGive for more detail.

Step 1: In MinistryPlatform

Tip: Best Practice is to create a NEW Company Contact using the Add/Edit Company tool, and then create a NEW User for each Integration. Set up your Giving Provider API Client before configuring this integration. Be sure to grant the new API User Administrative rights!
  1. Go to Administration > API Clients.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter SecureGive for Display Name and Client ID.
  4. Enter a Client Secret. This is the "password" SecureGive uses to access your MinistryPlatform database. We highly recommend you use a password generator to create a unique and secure Client Secret.
  5. Select the Client User you created for this integration.
Note: The Client User you choose or create must have a Security Role with Administrator rights.
  6. For Authentication Flow, select Authorization Code, Implicit, Hybrid, Client Credentials, or Resource Owner. All other settings can remain the same.
  7. Click Save.

Step 2: In SecureGive

  1. Go to Settings > Export Settings.
  2. Enter the Church Code. This is your MinistryPlatform Domain/URL (for example, https://{yourchurch}.ministryplatform.net).
  3. Enter the Client ID.
  4. Enter the Client Secret.
  5. Enter the Backfill Date. All transactions from this date forward upload to MinistryPlatform, unless they have already previously uploaded. The backfill date is up to one year's worth of history. Additionally, a church admin can always download a CSV of their transaction history for a manual option.
  6. Click Save.
Once you've authorized this API connection, you must link your campuses, categories, and members (members in SecureGive are equivalent to donors in MinistryPlatform) for transactions to upload successfully. You only need to do this once for each member/donor.

Link Members in SecureGive (Option 1)

  1. Go to Reporting > All Transactions.
  2. In the Member ID, click the number or the exclamation point ! icon, which means there is no existing Member ID.
  3. A list of possible MinistryPlatform Donor matches displays based on the Member information in SecureGive. Click Select Member to link the two accounts.

Link Members in SecureGive (Option 2)

  1. Go to Users > Members.
  2. Select the Member.
  3. Next to the MinistryPlatform Donor ID field, click Find Matches.
  4. A list of possible MinistryPlatform matches displays based on the Member information in SecureGive. Click Select Member to link the two Member accounts.
When you complete all integration steps, transactions begin to upload overnight each night to MinistryPlatform. Be sure to monitor the Export Status column on your All Transactions report to see what transactions may need additional information to upload.
