Microsite: Widgets Made Easy

A deep drive on microsites, including how they work and how to link microsites to your website without configuring widgets.

If customizing widgets sounds like too much work, we have a simple plug-and-play alternative. A microsite provides the same features as some of our widgets, without the complex configuration!

Every congregation or parish has their own microsite, and each microsite contains the following pages (which work exactly the same as their widget counterparts):
  • Online Directory
  • My Giving
  • My Contribution Statement
  • My Profile
  • My Household
  • My Pledges
  • User Defined Labels

The best part is, the microsites are already waiting for you! They exist right now, and you can start using them as soon as you'd like. All you have to do is add a link to each congregation or parish website that wants to use it.

How It Works

We've set up a microsite for every congregation or parish to use. The list of microsites (where you can find the links) is tied to your instance of MinistryPlatform. To view the list, enter the same base URL as your MinistryPlatform instance, then add "/my" to the end of it.

For example, say the MinistryPlatform instance is "demo.ministryplatform.net/mp". Replace "/mp" with "/my" so it looks like "demo.ministryplatform.net/my". This gives you the microsite list for the demo database.

Once you get to your list, copy the URL link for a microsite and add it to the relevant congregation or parish website. This could be in the form of a button, link, or whatever you'd like to lead people to the microsite. After logging in, authenticated users can view and manage their information.

Link to Microsites

Ready to get started? Follow these steps to add a microsite to a website.

  1. Log in to your instance of MinistryPlatform.
  2. In your browser's address bar, replace "/mp" (and anything after that) at the end of your MinistryPlatform URL with "/my", and press the Enter key.
    https://demo.ministryplatform.net/my
A list of your congregations or parishes displays. If you have addresses entered in MinistryPlatform, they display to help you distinguish between those congregations or parishes with similar names.
  3. Click the congregation or parish microsite you want to view.
The microsite opens to the home page for that congregation or parish.
Note: The image that displays comes from the congregation record. This can help people know they're in the right place and trust that their information is safe and secure.
  4. Copy the URL link in your browser's address bar.
  5. On the congregation or parish website, paste that URL into a button or display it as a link that people can click to access the microsite.
Tip: Be descriptive so congregants know what to expect when they click! For example, your button might say, "Manage Your Info," or your link text might be, "View and manage your information online."

Once you add the link to the microsite on the website, congregants and parishioners can go to it, log in, and view and manage their information. The home page welcomes them and lets them know what they can do.

The pages (linked in the microsite's menu) display the exact same information as the corresponding widget. For more details on each one, see the Help Center topic for that widget.
