Edit Your App Navigation

You must have the PocketPlatform App Manager security role to do this.

You can manage the links, icons, and labels that display in the navigation menu of your PocketPlatform app.

Note: If you want to switch the type of navigation menu (drawer or tabbed) that your app uses, you'll need to contact Support.

The steps are similar whether your app uses drawer or tabbed navigation, with a few noted differences.

In MinistryPlatform, click the Bookmarks icon , and click PocketPlatform App Manager.
The App Manager opens in a new browser tab.
Click Edit App Navigation (if you have drawer navigation) or Edit Tab Navigation (if you have tabbed navigation).
All available navigation links display in categories on the left, and your app's current navigation displays in the preview pane on the right.
To edit existing navigation links, click it in the preview pane. To add a new navigation link, click and drag it from the list on the left over to where you want it to display in your app's menu on the right.

1. For Label, enter the wording you want to display for this navigation link in your app. If you have tabbed navigation and only want to show the icon, you can leave this blank.
2. For Icon Pack and Icon, make selections for the icon you want to display for this navigation link in your app.
3. If applicable, decide whether you want to show filters so app users can narrow down the content they see once they open this screen. If so, select the appropriate filter(s).
4. When you've set all the options you want for this navigation link, click Apply.
Note: For the best app experience, you should have:
- No more than 12 items (for drawer navigation).
- No more than 5 items and no less than 3 items (for tabbed navigation).
Once your menu reaches the maximum number of items, you can no longer add items to your app.
To reorder items in your menu, click and drag the navigation link in the preview pane. A bar shows where the item will be placed when you release your mouse.
To remove a navigation link from your menu, click the trash can icon beside it, then click OK to confirm the deletion.
Click Save.

Changes should display in your app within 15 minutes. To reload your app, you can either log out and log in again or fully close the app on your device and restart it.

App Navigation Options

These are the options you'll have when editing your app navigation.

General

Home/Dashboard: Links to your Home screen or Dashboard.
Connect Card: Links to your Connect Card screen.
Contact Form: Links to your Contact Form screen. You can select one Contact ID per navigation link.
Custom Form: Links to a Custom Form. You can select one Form per navigation link.
GCE: Links to a General Content Engine (GCE) screen. You can select one GCE per navigation link.
Lists of Lists: Links to a List of Lists screen. You can select one List per navigation link.

Bible/Reading Plans

Bible Passages

Links to a specified passage.

Scripture not showing up as expected? Here are some common issues to avoid:

Using an em dash instead of a standard dash ("Matthew 28:18—20" instead of "Matthew 28:18-20").
Not using the book of the Bible for each set of scripture ("Genesis 1:1-31,3:21" instead of "Genesis 1:1-31,Genesis 3:21").
Not using the English name for the book of the Bible ("1 Corintios 15:1-11" instead of "1 Corinthians 15:1-11").
Not using scripture references ("Selections from Psalms" instead of "Psalms 1:1-3").
Not including the verse ("John 3" instead of "John 3:16"). Note that this isn't always an issue. If you want to include the entire chapter, you can use "John 3" to display all verses of John 3 (1-36) in the app. Just be careful with this!

Bible/Reading Plans

Links to your Reading Plans screen. You must provide text to display in the heading at the top of the screen.

Reading Plan

Links to a specified Reading Plan. You can select one Reading Plan per navigation link. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the heading at the top of the screen.

Reading Plan Day

Links to a specified Reading Plan Day. You can select one Reading Plan Day per navigation link.

Check In

Fastpass: Links to your FastPass screen.
Self Checkin: Links to your Self Check-In screen. You must specify the event that people can check in to.

Congregations

Congregation Picker: Links to your Campus/Parish Selector.

Events

Events: Links to your PocketPlatform Events screen in a list layout. Optionally, you can select one or more filters to display for app users to select from.
Events Calendar: Links to your PocketPlatform Events screen in a monthly calendar format. Optionally, you can select one or more filters to display for app users to select from.
Event Detail: Links to your Event Details screen. You must specify which event to show details for.

Giving

Giving: Links to your Giving screen.
Simple Giving: Links to a giving website of your choice. You must provide the fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https".
Custom OLG: Links to the General Content Engine (GCE) screen you've set up for your OnlineGiving.Org Integration.

Groups

Groups: Links to your Groups screen in a grid view. Optionally, you can select one or more filters to display for app users to select from.
Groups Map: Links to your Groups screen in a map view. Optionally, you can select one or more filters to display for app users to select from.
Group Detail: Links to your Group Detail screen. You must specify which group to show details for.

Group Chat

Group Chat: Links to your Group Chat screen.
Group Detail - All Convos: Links to all the chat conversations for a specified group. You can select one Group per navigation link.

Opportunities

Opportunities: Links to your Opportunity Finder screen. Optionally, you can select one or more filters to display for app users to select from.
Opportunity Detail: Links to the Opportunity Detail screen for a specified opportunity. You can select one Opportunity per navigation link.

Sermon Series/Sermons

Sermon Series Types: Links to a screen that displays your sermon series types. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the heading at the top of the screen.
Sorted Sermon Series: Links to a screen that displays your sermon series. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the heading at the top of the screen. You can also select one or more filters to display for app users to select from.
Sermon Series Detail: Links to a screen that displays the details for a specified sermon series. You can select one Sermon Series per navigation link.
Filtered Sermons: Links to a screen that displays your sermons. Optionally, you can select one or more filters to display for app users to select from.
Sermon Flat List: Links to a screen that displays your sermons. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the heading at the top of the screen. You can also upload a graphic to show along with or instead of any sermon graphics.
Sermon Detail: Links to a screen that displays the details for a specified sermon. You can select one Sermon per navigation link.
Latest Sermon: Links to a screen that displays the latest sermon. Optionally, you can select one or more filters to display for app users to select from.

Sermon Notes: Links to a screen that displays the notes for a specified sermon. You can select one Sermon per navigation link.

User

User: Links to a screen that displays the user's profile information, including their photo, user name, password, first name, last name, email address, and phone number. They can upload a photo and edit the information.
Settings: Links to a screen that displays the user's app settings, including options to enable/disable notifications, enable/disable sharing app data, or reset the dashboard. From this screen, users can also view their app's version number, a link to the Privacy Policy, and a link to the Terms of Service. There's a button to log out of the app and an option to close their account.
User Sermon Notes: Links to the My Sermon Notes screen, if you've added it to your app.
Help: Links to a screen that displays information about logging in, resetting a password, and creating an account in the app.
TOS: Links to a screen that displays the full text of the Terms of Service.
Notifications Inbox: Links to a screen that displays the user's Notifications Inbox.

Web

Webview: Links to a website of your choice, which opens inside the app for a seamless experience. You must provide the fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https".
Authenticated Webview: Links to a website of your choice, which opens inside the app for a seamless experience. You must provide the fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https". Only authenticated users can see this link in the navigation.
Browser Link: Links to a website of your choice in the user's device browser, outside of the app. You must provide the fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https".
