Filter Content on Your App Dashboard

You can determine what users see on their dashboard based on certain criteria. Here are a few scenarios where this could be useful:
  • By Audience – You want to promote an upcoming kids' event in your app, so you only show the recipe to people in your "Parents" audience.
  • By Language – You provide a livestream in different languages, so you show one recipe to people whose device is set to English and another recipe to just those with devices set to Spanish.
  • By Device or App Version – You need to encourage people who use Android devices or an older version of the app to update due to a security concern.
  • By Schedule – You want to show Self Check-In on the dashboard only on Sundays.
  • By Campus or Parish – You need to display an announcement about maintenance in one of the buildings at a certain campus/parish, so you only show the recipe to people who have that campus/parish set.
  • By Geolocation – You want to inform people about opportunities in certain areas, so you only show the recipe when their devices detect they are within a specific radius of a location.
If you integrate with The StudioC or use stored procedures, there are two additional scenarios:
  • StudioC – You want to show dashboard links and/or messages from The StudioC in your app.
  • Stored Procedure – You use a stored procedure to show certain content in your app.

These are just a few examples of how to show and hide content. You can apply these filters to any of the dashboard recipes, so feel free to customize your content as much as needed!

  • You must have the PocketPlatform App Manager security role to do this.
  • Make sure you've set up the audience(s) you need in the Platform.

Note: The Show option overrides the Hide option. So, if a user is a member of both a whitelisted and blacklisted audience, they will see the content on their dashboard. If you only set the Hide option, anyone who isn't part of the blacklisted audience will see the content. That includes guest users since they aren't part of any known audiences.
