Edit Your App Dashboard

  • You must have the PocketPlatform App Manager security role to do this.
  • You must be using the API-driven dashboard. If you're using the Stored Procedure dashboard, you will only be able to manage your app's navigation, not your dashboard recipes. To migrate to the API-driven dashboard, contact Support.

You can manage the recipes and elements that display on the dashboard of your PocketPlatform app.

Gray items are standard, out-of-the-box recipes that you can add to the dashboard. Blue items are related to layout and allow you to add other elements (like text, graphics, or buttons) within it.

  1. In MinistryPlatform, click the Bookmarks icon bookmark, and click PocketPlatform App Manager.
    The App Manager opens in a new browser tab.
  2. Click Edit Dashboard Recipes.
    All available recipes and elements display in categories on the left, and your app's current dashboard configuration displays in the preview pane on the right.
  3. To edit existing dashboard recipes or elements, click it in the preview pane. To add a new recipe or element, click and drag it from the list on the left over to where you want it to display in your app's dashboard on the right.

    1. Click a tab on the left to see the available settings.
    2. Enter or select the appropriate options based on what you want in your app.
    3. When you've set all the options you want for this recipe/element, click Apply.
  4. To reorder items on your dashboard, click and drag the recipe/element in the preview pane.
  5. To remove a recipe or element from your dashboard, click the trash can icon beside it, then click OK to confirm the deletion.
  6. Click Save.

Changes should display in your app within 5 minutes. To refresh your app, swipe down from the top of the dashboard.

App Dashboard Options

These are the options you'll have when editing your app dashboard.

General

Announcements
Displays the Announcements recipe on the dashboard. You can choose whether to show them in the normal list (vertically) or in a slider (horizontally).
Customer Logo
Displays your logo on the dashboard. You must upload the the image. You can also upload a dark mode version of your logo, which will display when the user's device is set to dark mode.
Social Media
Displays any social media links you add in a section on the dashboard. You must add at least one link in order for this section to display.
Unread Group Chat Messages
Displays any group chat messages that the user has not read yet.
Update App
Displays the Update App card on the dashboard with the text, "A new version is available". Once you apply your selection, click Add Listing URL and add at least one listing URL, starting with "http" or "https", in order for this section to display. When clicked, the user is directed to the app store listing URL for their iOS or Android device.

Congregation

Congregation Description
Displays the description from the Congregation or Parish record on the dashboard. You can determine whether it shows the description of the congregation selected in the Campus/Parish Selector or the congregation assigned to the Household record for the user who is logged in. You must also provide a fallback description that will display if the selected or assigned campus/parish does not have a description defined.
Congregation Logo
Displays the default image from the Congregation or Parish record on the dashboard. You must also upload a fallback image that will display if the congregation does not have an image attached.
Congregation of Record Info
Displays information about the congregation or parish on the dashboard. This includes the name, address, and email, along with a link to send an email from the app.

Check In

Fastpass
Displays the FastPass card on the dashboard. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the confirmation message after the person checks in and/or action text that displays below the graphic (if included) in the card. You can upload a graphic to display in the card.
Self Checkin
Displays the Self Check-In card on the dashboard. You must provide a title and action text (which displays below the title) as well as values for the maximum number of check-in events to display, the number of minutes before the event to show the card, and the number of minutes after the event to show the card. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the confirmation message after the person checks in. You can choose to display the image attached to the Event record, if available.

Sermons/Media

Latest Sermon
Displays the most recent sermon on the dashboard. You must provide text to display in the title at the top of the card. Optionally, you can filter the card to display only certain Sermon Series Types.
Latest Sermons
Displays a card with the most recent sermons on the dashboard. You can choose whether to show them in a vertical list or a horizontal scroller. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the title at the top of the card. You must define values for the minimum number of sermons to display and the maximum number of sermons to display in the card. Optionally, you can filter the card to display only certain Sermon Series Types. You can also choose whether to only show sermons that have graphics (attached to the Sermon record), show or hide sermon titles, and show or hide sermon dates.
Latest Sermon Series
Displays a card with the most recent sermon series on the dashboard. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the title above the card (such as "Latest Series") and/or the title on the card (such as the name of the series). You can filter the card to display only certain Sermon Series Types. You can also choose whether to show the series title, past sermons, and/or unpublished sermons. You can show a button that links to the current sermon series and/or a button that links to all sermon series, and you can provide text to display on those buttons.
Livestream
Displays active livestreams on the dashboard. Optionally, you can show the Display Title (from the Livestream record) as a heading at the top of each active livestream as well as action text that displays on the button.

Events & Opportunities

Upcoming Events
Displays any upcoming events on the dashboard. You can choose whether to show them in a vertical list or a horizontal scroller. You must provide text to display in the title at the top of the card as well as values for the minimum number of events to display and the maximum number of events to display in the card. Optionally, you can display the event title and image attached to the Event record, if available.
Upcoming Opportunities
Displays any upcoming opportunities on the dashboard. You can choose whether to show them in a vertical list or a horizontal scroller. You must provide text to display in the title at the top of the card as well as values for the minimum number of opportunities to display and the maximum number of opportunities to display in the card. Optionally, you can show the opportunity title from the Opportunity record.

User Recipes

User Avatar Welcome
Displays the user's avatar (photo) and a custom welcome message on the dashboard. You can use tokens to show certain text, such as {congregation} to show the campus/parish name and {name} to show the user's first name. Optionally, you can wrap the welcome message so it displays inside a card.
User Goals
Displays the user's badges on the dashboard, which they can tap to see the details. You must select the type of goals to display. If needed, you can provide a heading to display at the top (such as "Your Achievements") and/or helper text to display below the badges (such as "Tap to learn more"). Optionally, you can wrap this content so it displays inside a card. If the badge has not been completed, it displays as gray; otherwise, it displays as your brand's primary color.
This recipe checks to see if you're integrated with The StudioC and displays content accordingly:
  • If you are integrated, the Types menu will show options that come from The StudioC.
  • If you are not integrated, the Types menu shows options that come from the journeys and milestones you've set up to use for this in MinistryPlatform. The Journey record must have Active and Gamify set to Yes, and it must have a Start Date before today. The Milestone record must have Discontinued set to No and Gamify set to Yes. (If you don't see the Gamify field, you'll need to enable it via Field Management.)

User Info
Displays the user's information and a list of their household members on the dashboard. If needed, you can select a user goal to show the relevant information. Optionally, you can wrap this content so it displays inside a card.
User Welcome
Displays a custom welcome message on the dashboard. You can use tokens to show certain text, such as {congregation} to show the campus/parish name and {name} to show the user's first name.

Layout

Button
Displays a button on the dashboard. You must provide text to display on the button and the fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https", that users are directed to after clicking the button. Optionally, you can wrap this content so it displays inside a card. You can add buttons directly on the dashboard or inside the Card layout block.
Card
Displays a card layout block on the dashboard. This layout block is designed to hold one or more recipes within the card, such as buttons, graphics, and text. Once you apply your selection, click Add Recipe to select the items to add to the card.
Graphic
Displays a graphic (image) on the dashboard. You must upload the graphic and provide the fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https", that users are directed to after clicking the graphic. Optionally, you can wrap this content so it displays inside a card. You can add graphics directly on the dashboard or inside the Card layout block.
Graphic with Play
Displays your graphic (image), superimposed with a play button icon, on the dashboard. This is useful if you want to link the graphic to media that users can play, like a video. You must upload the graphic and provide the fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https", that users are directed to after clicking the graphic. Optionally, you can wrap this content so it displays inside a card. You can add graphics directly on the dashboard or inside the Card layout block.
HTML
Displays the rendering of basic HTML on the dashboard. This is limited to text formatting (bold, italics, emphasis, strong importance, and strikethrough), structure (paragraph and line break), and hyperlinks (anchor and hypertext reference). If needed, you can provide a fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https", that users are directed to after clicking the rendered HTML. Optionally, you can wrap this content so it displays inside a card. You can add HTML directly on the dashboard or inside the Card layout block.
Grid Collection
Displays a grid of linked images on the dashboard. Select whether to show images in two columns or three columns. Optionally, you can wrap this content so it displays inside a card. Once you apply your selection, click Add Item to upload the graphic and enter the fully qualified URL, starting with "http" or "https", that users are directed to after clicking the graphic.
Horizontal Scroller
Displays a horizontal scroller layout block on the dashboard. This layout block is designed to hold one or more recipes within the scroller, such as buttons, graphics, and text. Once you apply your selection, click Add Recipe to select items to add to the scroller.
Mini Scroll
Displays a miniature version of the horizontal scroller layout block on the dashboard. This layout block is designed to hold one or more cards within the scroller. Optionally, you can provide text to display in the title at the top of the scroller. Once you apply your selection, click Add Card to select items to add to the scroller.
Text
Displays text on the dashboard. You must provide the text to display and select a text style. The Heading option shows large, bold text; Text shows small text; Sub-Heading shows slightly larger than Text but smaller than Heading; and Super-Heading shows extra-large, bold text. Optionally, you can wrap this content so it displays inside a card. You can add text directly on the dashboard or inside the Card layout block.
Vertical Spacer
Displays a few pixels of blank space on the dashboard. This is useful if you want a little more room between dashboard recipes and elements.

Advanced

Stored Procedure
Displays the specified stored procedure on the dashboard. A stored procedure, also known as a sproc, is prepared SQL code that you can reuse. A MinistryPlatform user with the appropriate security role can manage stored procedures under System Setup > API Procedures. This is also where you'll find the Stored Procedure Name that is required for this recipe. For setup steps, see Customize Your Stored Procedure.
StudioC - Dashboard Links
Displays the links from StudioC on the dashboard. This requires an integration with The StudioC. For setup steps, see Customize Your StudioC Recipe.

StudioC - Messages
Displays the messages from StudioC on the dashboard. This requires an integration with The StudioC. You must select the type of messages to show, either news, personal, or all. For setup steps, see Customize Your StudioC Recipe.
