Navigation

You can customize how your users navigate and what they see in your PocketPlatform app menus. Choose which type of general navigation to use, and personalize the experience with user-specific navigation!

General Navigation

When you set up your app, you can select either Drawer or Tab navigation. With Drawer navigation, the user can show or hide the menu on the left side of the app when they click an icon. With Tab navigation, the menu options always show up at the bottom of the app.

Tip: For Tab navigation:
  • We recommend a maximum of five icons in the tabbed menu. If you have more items than that, you can always use the fifth icon as a "more" menu using a list of lists.
  • For added clarity, you can contact Support to set labels that display under each icon.
Note: The Drawer navigation items can be customized per campus/parish if you're using the Campus/Parish Selector. We recommend that multi-campus churches and dioceses use Drawer navigation.

No matter which option you choose, this general navigation menu shows the common, non-user-specific items you set up. These may include the following:

  • Events: Shows current and future events. Featured events display in a grid with images, and all events can be viewed on the calendar. Or, events can be viewed in a list without images.
  • Opportunities: Shows opportunities. This can be filtered by ministry and congregation/parish to create a custom experience for your users.
  • Sermons: Allows users to access sermons and select their favorites.
  • Giving: Allows users to donate via your preferred giving vendor.
  • Check-in: Displays their Contact barcode or Household QR code.
Note: These menu labels and/or tab icons are fully customizable! Decide on any wording you'd like and/or choose from our supported icons, then contact Support to make changes.

User-specific Navigation

You can provide personalized menu options for both logged-in and logged-out individuals.

The user-specific navigation menu displays when the user taps their image on the right of the header. The options that show up depend on whether the user has logged in or continued as a guest.

Guest Users

An individual who is not logged in will see links to:
  • Login - the app's login screen with options to log in with phone number, email, or password.
  • Settings - where a user can toggle notifications and analytics on or off.
  • Privacy Policy
  • Terms of Service

Logged In Users

Logged-in individuals will see, at minimum, links to:
  • Manage My Profile - where a user can update their profile photo, username, password, etc.
  • Settings - where a user can toggle notifications and analytics on or off.
  • Privacy Policy
  • Terms of Service
You can present other links as well. Contact Support to customize what users see in the menu. You might consider adding the following links:
  • My Groups or Group Life - List of groups the user participates in, if the group is available in the widget or Group Life.
  • My Group Chat - List of groups the user participates in, if the group has this feature enabled in your app.
