Family Maximums for Event Registration

An overview on applying family maximums for event registration.

You may need to enforce family maximums for certain types of registration, like for Religious Education. Here are two ways we recommend you set up product options or discounts to accomplish this.

Important: These methods rely on the honor system of the people who are registering. You must ensure these options are used appropriately. We recommend using the Option Group Description field to let people know what to do.

Variable Pricing per Person

Scenario: You want to offer a maximum price per family depending on the number of children they are registering. You decide to charge a certain amount for the first child and a lower amount for subsequent children, until the maximum amount is reached.

Family Max: $100

Base Price: $0

Option Group: Family Max (Required, Mutually Exclusive)
  • This is the first child I am registering: $50
  • This is the second child I am registering: $30
  • This is the third child I am registering: $20
  • This is the fourth child I am registering: $0

Optional Discounts for Families with Several Kids

Scenario: You want to offer a discounted rate per family depending on the number of children they are registering. You decide to remove certain dollar amounts based on which child is being registered out of the total number.

Family Max: $100

Base Price OR Option Group: $40

Option Group: Family Discounts (Required, Mutually Exclusive)
  • First or second child: $0
  • Third child: -$20
  • Fourth child: -$40
Note: Promo codes and discounts only apply to the individual registration they are used for. Creating scenarios where discounts are greater than the registration amount can result in invoice errors.
