Platform - Released August 26-27, 2024
Say hello to the easy button of password generation! And check out all the other improvements to the way things work in the Platform. There were also a few items that went out shortly after the August release.
Generate Domain and API Passwords
- We made it easy to generate a high quality, secure password for certain fields! You can even set the password length (minimum of 12 characters) and whether it should use uppercase, lowercase, digits, dash, underscore, space, special characters, brackets, and/or Latin characters.
- Right now, the password generator is available for Link Shortener API Key on the Domain record as well as Client Secret and Encryption Key on API Client records.
Authentication
- To help when you apply for A2P campaign approval through Twilio, we added opt-in language to the Sign Up screen. The default opt-in message states, "By providing your phone number, you agree to receive text messages. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies and you may opt-out at any time." You can customize this message using the Application Label, Platform Client: oauth.smsDataWarning.
- Fixed an issue where users who logged out of widgets were not being directed to the expected landing page.
- Fixed an issue where iOS device users tried to use Safari's AutoFill feature for the one-time login code but got the message, "Authentication code is expired or invalid".
Events
- Fixed an issue where event registrants received an error and were not being added to the group specified in the Product Option Price.
Selections
- We improved the way selection transfers are handled. Now, the Transfer Selection button only displays if your current selection can be transferred. Otherwise, when there are no pages that your selection can be transferred to, the button is not clickable.
Schema
- To prepare for an exciting integration we're working on, we made some schema changes. No need to worry about these too much (we'll provide more info later), but you may notice a few new pages and fields.
- We added a page for Integration Definition Types under Lookup Values and a page for Account Information under Administration.
- We added a Site Number field on Domain and Congregation records as well as a Send to Accounting field on Deposit records.
User Interface
- We moved jumplinks in front of the record they're related to, making them more easily accessible and neatly aligned on your records.
- Fixed an issue in Reports where the View Report button was sometimes hidden. Now, the button displays to the left, below the report parameters.
- Fixed an issue with dashboard charts where the record count was sometimes cut off when viewing on a mobile device. Now, longer view names are shortened with an ellipsis so you can see the full count.
- The old User Email field on the User record has been hidden via Field Management since it's no longer needed.
Additional Improvements Released in September
There were a few more items we wanted to send your way after the August release:
- Fixed an issue that affected the ability to select an option in some drop-down lists, like Congregation for global filters on User records.
- Fixed an issue where the Send To field displayed in the New Message Tool even when you did not have alternate email types set up.
- Fixed an issue that affected the ability to mass assign values to a selection of domains, congregations/parishes, or users.
Coming Soon
In a continuous effort to improve your experience, we've been reviewing the language used in MinistryPlatform. One item in the navigation menu stuck out to us: "Stewardship". This term overstates the intended purpose of this section. We believe that the term "Contributions" aligns better with the tasks you complete in this section.
We will not force this change to your system, but you should consider updating the page section for consistency. Moving forward, new customers will see this section labeled as "Contributions". Soon, we will update this language in our Help Center and training materials, and will start to use this term in community posts and other resources.
For clarity when using these resources, we encourage you to update your system to use this language. First, talk to your IT SPoC about making this change. Then, if you decide to change it, here's how:
- Go to .
- Locate and open the Stewardship page section.
- Click Edit Record.
- Change the Page Section from "Stewardship" to "Contributions".
- Click Save.
To see your change immediately, use the Refresh Cache button in the About dialog box. Otherwise, changes will be applied within 24 hours. For more information on page sections, see the Help Center articles on System Setup Section and Pages.
