Correct Donations Assigned to the Default Contact

Clean your data by updating donation records from the default contact record to an actual contact.

It's important to reassign donation records assigned to the default contact to a real contact record to keep your data clean.

  1. In the navigation menu, click Contributions > Donations.
  2. Find donations assigned to the default contact record.
    Search for ***Default, Contact in the Display Name column, or create a view to find records assigned to the default contact.
  3. Select the donation(s) you want to reassign.
  4. Use the Assign Donor tool to assign these donations to the correct donor record.
    1. From the Tools menu, select Assign Donor.
    2. If needed, select the donation to match.
    3. Review possible matches. If a match exists, click Assign next to the correct donor. If no match exists, click Create New Donor, enter any additional information, and click Save.
    4. Click Save.
    5. Close the tool.
  5. Repeat this process for each record you need to reassign.
  6. When finished, review the page view you created to ensure there are no more donations assigned to the default contact record.

You finished reassigning donations from the default contact record to their rightful contact record! Now when you select the view you created to filter for donations assigned to the default contact record, no records should display.
