Roles

Roles are the jobs volunteers do — usher, greeter, nursery worker. A role can be shared across teams, and you manage them all from the Serving Roles page.

If you've ever been a part of a successful team, you know that the best teams are usually made up of a few different roles. For example, a local missions team may benefit from a strong administrator, a photographer, a doctor, a carpenter, a painter, and a dozen people committed to prayer for the team and opportunities. When setting up serving roles, you'll be able to connect these roles with related skills and requirements, such as age or required background check.

Once you create one or more roles, you can associate them with a team for recruiting, scheduling, and assignment purposes. A role can be used on more than one team at a time, and a volunteer can be in that role on multiple teams, as well.

If you want to see who is volunteering for specific roles, you can print or export a list of volunteers by role. You can also create a custom query to search for particular roles and identify who is serving in each one, and then include this role-based volunteer information in your reporting.

Every role your church has set up appears in one list, which you can search by name when it grows long. Opening a role shows the volunteers assigned to it.
