Disable Messages Temporarily

When editing records, you receive several messages to confirm your actions and prompt additional changes. This helps to ensure you don't update a record by accident. However, if you're updating many records one-by-one, you may want to skip these messages to save time.

You can temporarily turn off these messages by setting an option in the Initial Setup window.
Note: This is a temporary option that will be reset each time you exit the program.
  1. On the File menu in your PDS program, click Setup > Initial Setup.
  2. On the Program Options tab, select Disable Editing Messages.
  3. To acknowledge that this option will be reset when you exit the program, click OK.
  4. Click Save/OK then Close.

Once you set the option, you can edit records without having to confirm your actions. Instead, an "automatic answer" is provided for you.

Actions Affected

When the option is selected, these actions do not display confirmation messages:
  • Selecting or clearing the Inactive checkbox
  • Clearing the Deceased checkbox
  • Editing the Deceased date
  • Editing a family or member name
  • Selecting or clearing the Parishioner checkbox
  • Selecting or clearing one of your user-defined checkboxes

Messages Affected

When the option is selected, these messages do not display and the program uses the "automatic answer".
