Resubmit a Task

You can resubmit a process task that has been rejected but can't be deleted, cleared, or hidden.

Important: It is important to resolve rejected tasks. Unless resolved, rejected tasks prevent any process from firing that would otherwise fire.

Tasks confirm that something has been achieved. Tasks are only designed to complete if a specific outcome is recorded. Instead, tasks confirm that an action was taken. So, even if a task was rejected, that rejection is still seen as action. So, most of the time, you must resubmit a task so that it triggers the process again.

To trigger the process that resubmits a task, a SPoC needs to identify the process that created the task and the related dependent fields and conditions.

  1. Go to Communications > User Tasks.
  2. Open the appropriate Task record.
  3. Note the number in the Process Step ID field.
  4. Go to Administration > All Steps and find the Step Record that corresponds to the Step ID number you previously noted.
Tip: Create a view that displays the Process Step ID.
  5. Open the Step record and use the jumplink to go to the associated Process record.
  6. Once in the Process record, review the dependent field and dependent conditions. This should help you determine what must change on the record to resubmit the task.

Once you do so and resubmit the task, the rejected status disappears, and you can complete the task.
