Check-In Suite FAQ

Q1: Can I use Check-In Suite on any browser? Or does it only work with Firefox?

Check-In Suite works from any major browser! You can use Check-In Suite on the following browsers:

  • Latest version of Google Chrome
  • Latest version of Mozilla Firefox (regular, not ESR)
  • Latest version of Microsoft Edge
  • Latest version of Macintosh Safari
Q2: Can Check-In Kiosk print from any browser? Or does it only print from Firefox?

Check-In Kiosk can print from any major browser! You must install the Print Service on a Windows machine either on the local machine or connect it to a remote version of the Printer Service. See Configure Print Service for details.

Q3: Can I run Check-In Suite on an iPad or tablet?

Yes! We designed Check-In Suite to be responsive and work on various sized and touch screen devices. To download the print service to print name tags, you must have a Windows device.

The responsive screen size and ratio means you could technically even use Check-In Suite on a phone. However, phones iPad minis are pretty small, so, although it is possible and might work very well in certain scenarios, we still recommend a full size iPad or tablet or touch screen station for the best experience.

iPads sometimes exhibit a one- to two-minute delay between the Event's configured Early Check-In Period and when Participants can check in. You may opt to pad the Early Check-In Period by a few moments to compensate for this intermittent tablet behavior.

Q4: Why can't I log in to Check-In Suite?

Ensure that you have a Check-In Suite Security Role. See Security Roles for details.

Q5: Where is the data from the Check-In Suite Classroom Manager stored?

All Check-In Suite data stores in the Platform. You can pull Attendance reports from the Platform at any time.

Q6: Does Check-In Kiosk require configuration to print?

Yes, it requires the installation on the local machine or connection to a remote version of the Printer Service and basic printer properties. See Configure Print Service for details. No plug-ins or browser settings required!

Q7: How can I switch back and forth from Unattended to Attended mode?

If you are logged in as a User with the Administrators mode Security Role, you need to log out or open a new browser or private window and login as a User with the Unattended mode Security Role.

Q8: Can I use labels as tickets to show seating assignments or to show options paid for at registration?

Yes! Use the Option tokens on Labels to show what Option Group, Option Title, Option Quantity, and/or Option Note the Participant selected during registration. For example:

  • Use Option Title and Option Quantity tokens to print a label for the Participant that shows they bought a block of five tickets to the concert in the Balcony section.
  • Use the Option Title token to print a label for the Participant that shows they registered for the "Empty Nesters" track at the Marriage Conference.
  • Use the Option Group and Option Title tokens to print a label for the Participant that shows they bought a Medium T-shirt.
Q9: Why are labels printing for some Participants and not others?

The labels sets are controlled by what Group and Group Role the Participant has. If they have a role with a type of Participant, they receive Participant labels specified for that Group. If they have a role with a role type of Leader or Servant, they receive the Servant labels specified for that Group.

Q10: When Check-In Suite translated into another language, can I override various messages?

Yes, you can override various messages in the translation layer. However, we don't recommend this because it will be overwritten with future updates. Only a trained SPoC with knowledge of your server and the Domain Data folder should do this. From your Web server, go to webroot > Check In > Domain Data > Local Host > CustomResources.js file and choose the tab for the language. Create a new file or edit the existing file to make the message changes. If you need to make this change and don't feel comfortable doing so, contact Support. You can change search instructions when you create or edit your Kiosk Theme.

Q11: Why does an inactive Contact show up in the Participant dashboard in Classroom Manager?

In Check-In Suite, the Classroom Manager participant dashboard shows all the active Participants for the Groups associated with the selected Event. It does not look at Contact Status. If a Contact is Inactive, but their Participant records aren't end dated, then they were not inactivated correctly and you need to clean up their data. Always use the Inactive Tool to inactivate a Contact and ensure that all the related data clean up occurs.

Q12: What is the URL for Check-In Suite?

Your base URL + "/checkin". For example, https://example-church.minstryplatform.net/checkin

Q13: I am getting an error "Error occurred when printing..." after sending labels to the printer. What might cause this?

You labels might pass too much data to the printer. Most of the time, this is because a logo or other image on the label is too large.

Note: Scaling a large image (for example, 1339x750) down to a small container (for example, 34x60) does not make it a smaller image. Scaling the image does not change the amount of data, only how you view it. See Label Design for more details on image recommendations.
Q14: Printing is slow. Is there a way to speed this up?
Here are some known causes for slow printing that you can address:
  • Downsize large images to actual size.
  • Convert color and grayscale images to Black and White bitmaps.
  • Encode and embed linked images.
  • Select the “Room" or “Enable Default Printer” options in the Kiosk Print Settings, rather than “Specific Printer". You do not have to use a remote printer to use these options. You can either enable the default printer or map the printer to the appropriate room.
Q15: I can get the labels to print, but it runs over multiple labels. What should I check?

Check your Orientation settings in Printer Settings and in the Label Set. Try portrait/portrait, landscape/portrait, landscape/landscape, and portrait/landscape. Additionally, large logos or fonts may cause the print to run off or over multiple labels.

Q16: My Auto URL was working, but is now returning an error: "Auto login feature is not configured".

You edited your Auto Login Configuration Settings in the Platform and the Login token in your URL isn't valid. Generate a new Auto URL.

Q17: Do Unapproved Room Reservations and Events appear in Check-In Suite?

Yes. Check-In Suite doesn't require you to approve Events or Room Reservations for them to appear in Check-In. Unapproved Events and Room Reservations appear in Check-In Suite.

Q18: Why is my Check-In Kiosk suddenly not printing labels?

The Print Service won't verify if the kiosk clock is too far in the past or future. If you experience an issue with printing failing (especially on a machine that previously worked), check its clock settings! The kiosk and server should be within five minutes. For more troubleshooting tips, see this article.

Q19: Why do my labels print without any text?

Ensure that you have a "Temp" folder in this location on the device: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Temp . You need this folder for the labels to be able to print correctly.
