Make a Pledge Widget
Learn about the Make a Pledge widget, including its sections and what it does.
With the Make a Pledge widget, people can pledge toward a specific initiative represented by a pledge campaign.
- This widget displays one pledge campaign.
- A progress bar indicates campaign efforts for both pledges and donations made toward those pledges.
- Your church can defined suggested amounts to promote a streamlined giving process, and the widget accepts pledges of any amount.
- Pledges created with this widget receive a pending status by default. You can manage this setting using the Pending Pledge Approval default process to automatically approve the pledge, or create a new process to automatically approve pledges.
- The total pledge is calculated using the Pledge Amount, Frequency, and Start and End Dates fields.
- The default start and end dates are determined as follows:
- If a pledge campaign's start date is in the past, today's date is the default start date.
- If a pledge campaign's start date is in the future, the start date is the default start date.
- If a pledge campaign's end date is blank, the default end date is not set (null).
- If a pledge campaign's end date is in the past and the campaign still accepts pledges, the default end date is not set.
- If a pledge campaign's end date is in the future, the end date is the default end date.
- If a pledge's end date is in the future and the pledge campaign record has Pledge Beyond End Date set to Yes, the pledge's end date is the default end date.
- If a pledge spans less than a year for an annual pledge, the end date defaults to the start date in MinistryPlatform.
- If the pledge campaign record has an image, it displays. If not, a stock image is used. See Platform Setup for more information about using images.
- Customize the message that displays after someone creates a pledge. Define that text in the Online Thank You Message field on each pledge campaign record. If you leave this field blank, the text of the mpp-pledge-campaign.pledgeFormSuccessMessage application label displays instead. You can personalize the success message. See Platform Configuration for details.

Actions
- Create Pledge
- This action creates a pledge record. Pledges will be assigned to the person if they are logged in or match a contact record. Otherwise, pledges will be assigned to the default contact. Staff can see and approve pledges in MinistryPlatform. Note: The first name, last name, and either email address or phone number fields are required so the response can match a contact record. You cannot change the required fields.
