PocketPlatform - Releasing September 2025
As part of our ongoing effort to make PocketPlatform and Widgets more consistent, we've updated the criteria for showing groups on the Groups and Groups Map screens.
Groups and Groups Map
- Now, in order for groups to show on the Groups and Groups Map screens in PocketPlatform, the Group record in MinistryPlatform must be marked as a Group Type that has Show On Group Finder set to Yes. If a group's Group Type has this option set to No, it will no longer be visible in the app after this release.
For example, the Faithful Fathers group will show in the app because it has a Group Type of "Small Group", and the "Small Group" Group Type has the option set to Yes.
- Also, with the next release of Volunteer Connect, you'll need to update groups that should only show in Volunteer Connect (and not in your Group Finder widget or in the Groups and Groups Map screens). For groups to show only in Volunteer Connect, the Group record must have Available Online set to Yes. You should check your groups now to prepare for this change, and we'll remind you again before the Volunteer Connect release.
For example, the Nursery Volunteers group will show in Volunteer Connect because it has the option set to Yes.
Upcoming Change to Life Apps: In the next Life Apps release, we plan to change the names of the Care Life and Group Life applications to Care Connect and Group Connect. Volunteer Connect and Need Connect already follow this pattern. These will be collectively known as Connect Suite. We'll announce when that change occurs through Life Apps release notes but wanted to give you a heads up here as well!
