Self Check-In

With self check-in, you can let app users check in using their own device. This is available if you choose to link to it.

Self check-in can be helpful for very large events where you don't want people waiting in long lines at check-in stations. However, it's based on the honor system, so be sure you trust your attendees to mark themselves present only if they actually attend.

Configuring Self Check-In

To allow for self check-in, you just need to link to it on your dashboard or in your navigation menu. Use the App Manager to add the dashboard recipe (expand Check In and locate Self Checkin) or navigation link (expand Checkin and locate Self Checkin). Or, contact Support, and provide the image you want to use. If you want it to display the image attached to the Event record in MinistryPlatform, just let Support know.

Also, you can show a confirmation message on app users' dashboards to let them know they've checked in. You can customize this in the App Manager, or let Support know and they can update your recipe.

Once Self Check-in is linked in your app, make sure to set the following fields on the appropriate Event record(s) in MinistryPlatform: Allow Self Checkin, Approved, and Web Approved. These must be set to Yes to display for self check-in.

If you've configured the Campus/Parish Selector and the app user has selected one, Self Check-in will only display for the events at that campus/parish. Self Check-in also honors the church-wide congregation, if you have one set up.

Using Self Check-In

App users can access self check-in from the Dashboard link you set up. Once they click the link, they can check themselves in as attending. The Head of Household can check in family members as well. Once checked in, the Event Participant records are created for that event. A confirmation message displays on the dashboard to let users know they've successfully checked in. This shows immediately when they return to the dashboard after checking in—no refresh required!
