FastPass & Check-In

When people attend events, you might want them to check in to collect information on participant engagement. PocketPlatform puts the check-in process right in people's hands!

To leverage check-in, you'll need scanners that can read phone screens. While bar code scanners will work if you're not using FastPass, scanners that can read QR codes will work for both.

FastPass

When configured, a FastPass card displays on each app user's dashboard during check-in events.
Note: You can customize the graphic for FastPass (to match your branding, for example) as long as you're not using the old stored procedure approach for recipe management. Add it yourself using the App Manager, or contact Support and provide the image you want to use!
  • App users see the FastPass option if one of the following is true:
    • They have an Event Participant record associated with an event that allows check-in and FastPass.
    • They have a Group Participant record in a group that has an event/room assignment for an event that allows check-in and FastPass.
  • FastPass honors the congregation/parish, so app users only see relevant events based on their selected campus or parish.
  • When selected, users are presented with their household check-in options so they can check in on their device. The Start Time, Event Title, and Group Name display so users know what they are checking in for.
  • When an individual checks in on their phone, an Event Participant record with the Participant Type "Registered" is created. When the QR code is scanned, relevant name tags automatically print and the Participant Type is updated to "Attended".
  • By default, FastPass is available one hour before an event starts and up to 10 minutes after the start time for late check-in. Want different availability? Add your custom times to the Early Check-In Period and Late Check-In Period fields on the Event record.
  • Once someone checks in using FastPass, you can show a confirmation message on their dashboard so they know they've checked in. Add it yourself using the App Manager, or let Support know if you want this to display for app users so they can update your FastPass dashboard recipe.

Configuring FastPass

Want to get FastPass up and running? Use the App Manager to add the Fastpass recipe to your dashboard (expand Check In and locate Fastpass) and/or add the Fastpass link to your navigation menu (expand Checkin and locate Fastpass). Or, contact Support and we'll enable it for you.

Tip: Make sure you have QR code reading scanners ready to go. Once FastPass is enabled, both check-in options will present QR codes.

FastPass only displays on the dashboard when there is a Check-In Event, so make sure of the following:

  • Check-In and FastPass are enabled for your event. On the Event record, set both Allow Check-in and Allow Fastpass to Yes.
  • People are in groups associated with the event, or people have an Event Participant record for the event.
  • The early and late check-in times are set. If FastPass isn't displaying on your dashboard soon enough or is disappearing too early, adjust these times.

When it comes to other households, FastPass works exactly like Check-In Suite in MinistryPlatform. Make sure you've set the CIM, ShowsInCheckinHHTypeID configuration setting.
