Set Up Your User Account

Learn how to set up your MinistryPlatform account, including how to add profile picture, set your communication preferences, and more.

Your user account is also known as your profile. Typically, a profile has a picture of you and some basic information. In MinistryPlatform, you can also set your communication preferences, connect your social login accounts, and change your password.

Update Your Profile

Your profile is your user account, where you can enter some basic information about yourself, add a picture to your profile, and more.

Add a Profile Picture

Learn how to add a picture of yourself to your MinistryPlatform profile.

Profile pictures help people recognize you and let you know when you’re logged in to your MinistryPlatform account.
  1. Click your user account picture. If you haven’t added a picture yet, it will be your initials.

  2. Click User Account.
  3. In the My Profile tab, click the camera button.

  4. Click Upload Photo. If you already have a profile picture, you can click Replace Photo and follow the following steps to upload a new photo. To remove a photo from your profile, click Remove, and then click Remove.
  5. Select a photo. Use a picture that helps people recognize you and lets you know when you're signed in to your account.
    Tip: The photo should be no more than 5MB in size, and it should be a .png, .jpg, .bmp, or .gif.
    A success message displays.
  6. Click X or Close to go back to the My Profile tab.
Now when you log in to MinistryPlatform, your profile picture displays in the top-right corner.

Enter Your Profile Information

Learn how to add general information to your MinistryPlatform profile.

Add some basic information about yourself. Staff members and anyone with access to the Administration > Users page in MinistryPlatform can see your profile.
  1. Click your user account picture.
  2. Click User Account.
  3. In the My Profile tab, enter any information you’d like to save on your profile. This includes your name, personal details like your gender, date of birth, and marital status, contact information, and location preferences.
  4. When finished, click Save.
A success message displays.

Update Your Location Preferences

Set your time zone and preferred language for your MinistryPlatform account.

If you didn’t set up your time zone and locale when you first logged in to MinistryPlatform, you can do it in the My Profile tab in your user account.

  1. Click your user account picture.
  2. Click User Account.
  3. In the My Profile tab, go to the Location Preferences section.
  4. In the Time Zone drop-down list, select your time zone.
  5. In the Locale drop-down list, select your preferred language.
  6. Click Save.

Set Your Communication Preferences

Determine if your church can contact you by email or text message and if you want to include your contact information in your church's online directory.

Communication preferences let your church know whether they can send you texts or emails and whether or not you want your contact information listed in the online church directory, if they have one.

  1. Click your user account picture.
  2. Click User Account.
  3. Click the Communication Preferences tab.
  4. In the How should we contact you? section, you'll see the email and phone number associated with your account.
    1. To opt out of bulk email messages, select the Do not send me bulk email messages checkbox.
    2. If you have a mobile phone number entered and you want to opt in to text messages from your church, select the I agree to opt in to text messages from [your church's name] checkbox.
      Note: You can opt out at any time by returning to this window and clearing the checkbox.
  5. If your church uses the Online Directory, select any directory preferences in the Directory Preferences section. Church staff can still see your information if you opt out of anything, but other members at your church won't see your information in the online directory.
    1. To exclude your email from your church's online directory, select the Do not list my email in the Online Directory that members at my church can see checkbox.
    2. To exclude your phone number from your church's online directory, select the Do not list my mobile phone in the Online Directory that members at my church can see checkbox.
    3. To exclude all contact information from your church's online directory, select the Do not list my contact details in the Online Directory that members at my church can see checkbox.
  6. Click Save.

Change Your Password

Update your MinistryPlatform account password while logged in.

You can update your password in MinistryPlatform at any time.

  1. In MinistryPlatform, click your user image in the top right corner.

  2. Click User Account.
  3. In the left navigation menu, click Change Password.
  4. In the Old Password field, enter your current password.
  5. In the New Password field, enter a new password.
  6. In the Confirm Password field, re-enter the new password.
  7. Click Save.
A confirmation message displays. You can now log in to MinistryPlatform with your new password.
