Create a Product
A guide to create a product in MinistryPlatform, including the product fields you'll encounter when you create a product.
You can create a product that's used to collect deposits for a paid event. Remember, you should only create products to be used as part of an event.
- In the Advanced menu, go to .
- Click New Product.
- Enter the information. See Product Fields for details on these.
- Click Save.
If you do not need additional options for this product, you're done! If you need to create options, see Option Groups & Prices.
Product Fields
A list of the fields you'll use and their descriptions when you create products in MinistryPlatform.
- Product Name
- The required title for your Product. This name displays on the Event Details & Registration Widget, so make it clear and avoid jargon.
- Congregation
- Optional. Ensure people are limited to locations through global filter permissions.
- Description
- Enter a description so staff don't create the same product concept twice.
- Base Price
- Enter the price that all registrants pay. This can be $0 for free products.
- Deposit Price
- Optional. Enter the portion of the base price that people must pay at registration. If entered, registrants can select whether they want to pay the deposit only, total cost, or a different amount that is greater than the deposit amount. If the registrant pays the deposit, they can pay the balance later using My Invoices. If a deposit is not entered, the registrant must pay the full base price.Note:
- People must pay one of the following to register for a paid event: the deposit price, an amount higher than the deposit price, or the full base price.
- Registrants are only required to pay the deposit amount at the time of registration, even if they select option prices.
- Promo codes do not count toward a deposit payment if there is a balance remaining after the amount that the promo code took off.
- Active
- If set to Yes, the Product is available for event registration.
- Price Currency
- If your church accepts multiple currencies, specify the currency for this Product's prices so that you charge people the correct amount. You'll find these values under .Note: The Event Details and Registration widget only supports US dollars (USD) at this time. It does not take this field into account.
