This release includes security and sign-in enhancements designed to give you more ways to sign in, make it easier for staff to help with password issues, and strengthen account security across your organization.
Coming Soon! Passkey Support for Easier Sign-in
No more remembering usernames and passwords! You're now able to use a passkey to verify your identity when signing in to Realm or the Connect mobile App. A passkey uses your mobile device's built-in security (like Face ID, Touch ID, or your phone's fingerprint reader or PIN) to confirm it's really you. It's the same thing you already use to unlock your phone or computer.
Why use it?
-
Faster and easier than opening an app on your phone, no code or app required to verify identity.
-
There's nothing to type. Just use your face, fingerprint, or device PIN.
-
More secure than a single password.
When you set up a passkey, your computer or phone becomes your second layer of security, similar to two-factor authentication. As long as you have your phone or computer with you, signing in is quick and simple.
Just a Reminder
We previously released Text Message Sign-in and gave staff the ability to set a user's password. In case you missed it, here are some recaps:
Text Message Sign-in
Just a reminder that you can now sign in to Realm and the Connect mobile app using a one-time code sent to your phone by text message. This is an alternative to entering your email and password and is available on both the browser and mobile app sign-in pages.
To get started, you register your phone number once from the sign-in page. After that, just click Text Message on the sign-in page, and enter the code you receive. Most users find this faster and easier than typing a password, and it adds an extra layer of security because only someone with access to your phone can sign in.
An account can have multiple phone numbers, but each phone number can only be linked to one account.
Staff Can Reset a User's Password from their Profile
Staff members with Edit Profile permissions can now send a password reset email directly from a person's profile in Realm. A Reset Password button appears below the email address on the profile. Clicking it triggers the standard "forgot your password" process, and a confirmation message lets you know the email was sent.
This means staff can help congregants who are locked out of their accounts without contacting support or manually setting a temporary password — which improves both security and response time.
