This release introduces enhancements for easier sign-in, including Text to sign in (SMS), passkey support for two-factor authentication, and staff-initiated password resets, alongside minor corrections.

Improvements to Make Sign-In Easier!

We're pleased to introduce improvements that simplify sign-in for users of Realm, Connect Mobile App, MissionInsite, and Gather Facility Scheduler, benefiting administrators, leaders, and congregants.

Texting (SMS) Login — This is a new login option designed to make signing in faster and more convenient. After you set it up, you can log in by simply entering a code sent directly to your mobile device — no password required and no waiting on email! See Register Your Phone For Text Sign-In (SMS).

Staff can now send a password reset — If you have the Edit Profile permission, you can send a password reset email on behalf of any user with a login. Look for the new "Send Password Reset" button on the profile page, directly beneath the account email field. Use it to send a Forgot Your Password email without requiring the user to initiate it themselves. See Reset Password for Someone.

MinistrySmart Training to help you Solve Login Problems — Despite 60+ years since the first computer password, login issues remain a top support call across many software industries. Take this course to master login solutions and assist users effectively. You'll learn to:

  • Verify the user has the correct permissions and credentials to access Realm by troubleshooting a list of common login errors.
  • Reset lost or forgotten passwords, overcoming some of the commonly encountered obstacles in this process.
  • Resolve a host of other problems: creating new staff accounts, managing long and complicated passwords, and dealing with two-factor authentication difficulties.

Passkey support for two-factor authentication (2FA) — You can now use a passkey to verify your identity when logging in — no code or app required. A passkey uses your device's built-in security (like Face ID, Touch ID, or your phone's fingerprint reader or PIN) to confirm it's really you. It's the same thing you already use to unlock your phone or computer.

Why use it?

  • Faster and easier than opening an app on your phone, like DUO or YouTube, to verify identity.

  • There's nothing to type. Just use your face, fingerprint, or device PIN

  • More secure than a single password.

When you set up a passkey, your computer or phone becomes your second layer of security. As long as you have your phone or computer with you, signing in is quick and simple.
