When used with other widgets, the Language & Locale widget provides a multi-lingual approach so people can select their preferred language.

  • Current available languages are English (default), Mandarin (Simple Chinese), Portuguese, and Spanish.
  • The selected language impacts:
    • Menu & navigation text (labels)
    • Date & time formatting
    • Currency
  • The default label values always come with a translation for each supported language. You can change these default values. Churches that change these default values are responsible for their own translations. See Application Labels for the current list of supported languages and more details on changing labels.
Note: Values from MinistryPlatform records display in the language they were written. For example, if a church has attendees who speak both English and Spanish, each attendee could use widgets in their preferred language. But specific information would display in only one language — the language in which it was written. For example, the selected language is Spanish, as indicated by the date labels and formatting. Specific information, such as titles and descriptions, display in the languages they were written.

Using the Language & Locale Widget is just one way for you to customize your users' experience. In our example, the Language & Locale is set to Spanish. But the events were set up in MinistryPlatform using a different language. From left to right:
  • The Language & Locale widget is set to Spanish and the event was set up in MinistryPlatform in Spanish.
  • The Language & Locale widget is set to Spanish and the event was set up in MinistryPlatform in English.
  • The Language & Locale widget is set to Spanish and the event was set up in MinistryPlatform in Chinese.

And don't forget! You can use application labels to customize your widgets, including titles and button labels.
