Resources for You

Various resources to support you in using MinistryPlatform, including information for SPoCs, the Help Center, procedures, the MinistryPlatform Community, webinars and training, and updates and release notes.

SPoCs

Single Points of Contact (SPoCs) are the foundation of our approach to support. Their job is to understand the issues their people are having, think them through, troubleshoot and problem-solve, and reproduce the issue where possible. And, if needed escalate by submitting a support request.

Your SPoC team is made up of people that both your congregants or parishioners and our Support staff know personally. They know the person, the church, the system, and our team. Your SPoC fully communicates needs and addresses needs according to church priorities. We recommend having a team of three SPoCs. And while there are no "hard and fast" definitions for each SPoC role, here are some best practices:

  • User SPoC: A high-level User that guards the data in your MinistryPlatform system. The may manage what data is being used, how is it being entered, how it is kept clean, and so on. The User SPoC should know how to set up events, groups, opportunities, check in, and more. The User SPoC is oftentimes also responsible for training your new or existing staff or volunteer Users on how to use MinistryPlatform.

  • Money SPoC: A high-level User who that owns the contributions and product and payment sections of MinistryPlatform. They may set up programs, products, and pledge campaigns and process and reconcile donations and payments.

  • IT SPoC: A high-level User who is the keeper of the server and IT infrastructure that runs MinistryPlatform. IT SPoCs have access to servers, networks, and more. They may manage users and security roles as well as domains, remote connections, and SSL certificates. The IT SPoC may also be involved with Portal skinning or advanced custom views.

Have a new SPoC? Contact Support with the details. If adding a SPoC, include full name, email address, and title.

If needed, a SPoC can submit an issue to Support through live chat in MinistryPlatform, phone call, or the Support Portal. Our Support agents are standing by!

Help Center

The Help Center provides an extensive online documentation database with search-friendly articles and videos about all MinistryPlatform applications available to anyone on your team 24/7. It is written to help you use MinistryPlatform to its fullest extent.

Have feedback on a Help Center topic? We'd love to hear from you! At the bottom of every article, you'll see the question, "Was this article helpful?". Give us a thumbs up or down to let us know what was helpful or what we can do to improve. Please provide enough details so we can effectively update the topic. And don't be afraid to provide your email address so we can follow up with you, if needed. We will only use your email address to ask for more information about this particular request; it is not shared with anyone else.

Procedures

The Procedures page in MinistryPlatform is a great place to document how your church uses MinistryPlatform. For example, the Help Center explains how to create an event, while your procedures explain how, at My Church, we decide what visibility level or program to use. It's a great place for all those "church-y decisions". People can use the About This Page report on any page to print a procedures manual of procedures specific to that page.

MinistryPlatform Customer Community

The MinistryPlatform Community is available for current, live MinistryPlatform customers. It is a source of inspiration and ideas as churches share their own knowledge and experiences. Why reinvent the wheel? Sometimes the best ideas come from someone doing the same job at another church! Reach out to Support to activate an account on the Support Portal to learn how other churches make ministry happen with MinistryPlatform.

Invite People to the MinistryPlatform Community

If you have access to the Customer Portal, you can invite another church staff member to the community. On the Customer Details page, click Invite User to MP Community.

Webinars & Training Content

Occasionally, we host webinars on various topics that bring value to MinistryPlatform. Webinars are always fun and are geared toward helping you get ministry done! Check out all we have to offer on the MinistrySmart Academy.

Updates & Release Notes

Each MinistryPlatform application is updated separately. For each update, people set to receive notifications will receive an email detailing when the update will be deployed, update highlights, and a link to the release notes. Release notes detail the fixes, enhancements, and new features included in the update and are available anytime in the application's section of the Help Center.
