Donors

The Donor record is one of the five main records in MinistryPlatform. It holds information regarding a specific individual's financial donations.

Donor records are created by any of the following methods:

Donor Record Fields

Contact
The Contact record associated with the donor.
Stmt Frequency
Indicates the frequency of statements. (Can be used to help create views and selections to send Contribution Statements).
Stmt Type
Indicates whether the donor receives an Individual or Family statement.
Stmt Method
Indicates the method of statements. (Can be used to help create views and selections to send Contribution Statements).
Setup Date
The Date the donor record was added to the system.
Envelope No.
Optional giving envelope number. Use the Assign Envelope Number Tool to add the next envelope number to a Donor record.
Cancel Envelopes
Indicates whether or not to send out envelopes to the donor.
Notes
Any additional information that you want to track about the donor.
First Contact Made
Indicates whether a staff member has made initial contact with the donor.
First Donation Date
This read-only field is populated via a routine. A donation must be batched to be counted as a First Donation.
Last Donation Date
This read-only field is populated via a routine. A donation must be batched to be counted as a Last Donation.
Always Soft Credit
If needed, select the Donor record that should always be given soft credit for any donations made by this donor. This will be set nightly by a routine on any applicable Distributions.
Always Pledge Credit
The Donor record that should always get pledge credit for each donation distribution to a program associated with a pledge campaign. The donor set here should have an active pledge to that campaign. This will be set on any applicable distributions nightly by a routine.
Donation Frequency
A value set automatically by a nightly routine to indicate how often this donor gives. For more information, see Donor Tracking.
Donation Level
A value set automatically by a nightly routine to categorize the amount this donor gives. For more information, see Donor Tracking.
Donor Code
A 16-character code that is meant to uniquely identify each donor, but you can define and use this code in any way that fits your needs. For our Catholic instances, you might use this as the diocesan identifier for donors that's separate from the envelope number.
