Recommended Parish Roles

For dioceses with multiple parishes using MinistryPlatform, we recommend applying these security roles so the right people have the right access for their job.

Based on parish size and staffing, each security role may be filled by one or more staff member, and multiple roles may be filled by a single staff member. Some roles may be in your system by default, and you'll need to add others based on your needs.


Parish User	Recommended Roles and Options
Main SPoC - Full Access	Apply the Administrators security role. On the User record, set Admin, Setup Admin, and Can Impersonate to Yes.
Secondary SPoC	Apply the Administrators security role.
Other SPoCs	Add a security role similar to Administrators but without access to contributions.
Bishop	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Basic or Intermediate (depending on your needs). Add a security role for Sacraments - View. Apply the Basic Reports security role.
Pastor / Other Priest	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Basic or Intermediate (depending on your needs). Add a security role for Sacraments - View. Add a security role for Contributions - View. Add a security role for Contact Log & Care Log - Edit. Apply the Basic Reports security role.
Parish Administrator	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Advanced. Add a security role for Sacraments - View. Add a security role for Background Checks - View. Add a security role for Contact Log & Care Log - Edit. Apply the Basic Reports security role. Apply the CareLife Case Administrator security role. Apply the Communications Team security role. Apply the Event Registration Management security role.
Membership	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Advanced. Add a security role for Sacraments - View & Edit. Add a security role for Contact Log & Care Log - Edit. Apply the Basic Reports security role.
DRE	Add a security role for Sacraments - View (or Coordinator, depending on the role). Add a security role for Background Checks - View. Apply the Ministry/Pastor/Director security role. Apply the Check In Classrooms security role. Apply the Communications Team security role. Apply the Event Registration Management security role.
FF Coordinator	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Advanced. Add a security role for Sacraments - View. Add a security role for Background Checks - View. Apply the Basic Reports security role. Apply the Event Registration Management security role.
Sacramental Coordinator	Add a security role for Sacraments Coordinator. Apply the Ministry/Pastor/Director security role. Apply the Check In Classrooms security role. Apply the Communications Team security role. Apply the Event Registration Management security role.
Finance Director	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Intermediate. Add a security role for Contact Log & Care Log - View. Apply the Basic Reports security role. Apply the Stewardship Team security role.
Safe Environment Coordinator	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Intermediate. Add a security role for Contact Log & Care Log - View. Apply the Basic Reports security role. Apply the Background Check Management security role.
Finance Coordinator	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Advanced (if applicable). Add a security role for Contact Log & Care Log - View. Apply the Stewardship Team security role. Apply the Basic Reports security role.
Contributions Processor (Volunteer)	Apply the Batch Manager Operators security role.
IT Director / Webmaster	Add or apply any necessary roles depending on the level of access needed.
Operations Manager	Apply the Facilities Team security role.
Communications Coordinator	Add a security role for Parish Staff - Basic. Apply the Basic Reports security role. Apply the Communications Team security role.
Ministry Lead	Apply the Ministry/Pastor/Director security role.
Small Group Leader (Volunteer)	Group leader access is determined by Group Life.
