Change a Field Label

  • You must have edit rights to Field Management.
If you've carefully considered all the implications of changing a Field Label and decided to live with the consequences (both intended and unintended), here's how to proceed with caution and change a Field Label.
Note: You need edit rights to System Setup > Field Management to change a Field Label.
  1. In the navigation menu, click System Setup > Field Management.
  2. Click the + to create new record.
  3. Add the necessary information.
    1. Page: The page associated with the Field Label you want to change.
    2. Field Name: The field you're going to change. This is the Field Name that came with your Platform installation. It is not the new name you're giving the field.
    3. Group Name: The "box" the field should display in (for example, the General box above). If null, the field displays in the General box.
    4. View Order: The order fields display in within their Group.
    5. Required: Select Yes to require this field. Default is No.
    6. Default Value: Enter the default value that works for your church.
    7. Filter Clause: Leave blank or add a condition if you're filtering a drop-down list.
    8. Field Label: The Name that displays for this field in an open record.
      Note: Field Management is field-specific. So if you want to change a field label that displays on more than one page or sub-page, you must create a new Field Management rule for every time that field displays in the Platform.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Repeat as necessary to update every instance of the Field Label in the Platform.

Field Label Fields

Page
The page associated with the Field Label you want to change.
Field Name
The field you're going to change. This is the Field Name that came with your Platform installation. It is not the new name you're giving the field.
Group Name
The "box" the field displays in (for example, the General box above). If null, the field displays in the General box.
View Order
The order fields display in within their Group.
Required
Select Yes to require this field. Default is No.
Default Value
Enter the default value that works for your church.
Filter Clause
Leave blank or add a condition if you're filtering a drop-down list.
Field Label
The Name that displays for this field in an open record.
Note: Field Management is field-specific. So if you want to change a field label that displays on more than one page or sub-page, you must create a new Field Management rule for every time that field displays in the Platform.
