Group Connect Sign-ups

The Sign-ups tab in Group Connect allows an authenticated leader or primary contact to respond to Group Inquiries without requiring access to MinistryPlatform. (Group Inquiry records are created when someone signs up using the Group Details widget, if you have the option configured.)

Example showing the Group Connect Sign-ups tab on a laptop and a mobile device

In the list, you can see all the individuals who expressed interest in the group. If the system can match the interested person to a Contact record, their information displays, including the default image attached to their Contact record. Nickname, last name, mobile phone, email, and inquiry date display for each interested person. If they left a comment when they requested to sign up, you can view it here as well. You can sort the list by name or inquiry date.

Manage Sign-ups

You can manage inquiries without logging in to the Platform.
  1. In Group Connect, open your group.
  2. Click the Sign-ups tab.
  3. Click the ellipsis on the row of the request you want to accept or decline.
  4. Select the appropriate action:
    • Accept: The pending participant will be added to the group, and the associated records will be created. This requires confirmation.
      • Contact Record: If no associated Contact record exists, one is created with the Contact Status of Active.
      • Household Record: If there is no associated Household record, one is created with the Congregation/Parish set to the value in the COMMON, defaultCongregationID configuration setting.
      • Participant Record: A Participant record is created with the start date of the accepted date and with the Participant Type specified in COMMON, defaultParticipantType configuration setting. The Participant record shows the note, "Created by Group Connect App".
      • Group Participant Record: A Group Participant record is created for all pending placed participants with the date accepted as the start date. A note of "Created by Group Connect App" is added to the Group Participant record. The Group Member Type is sourced from the Group Type's Default Role.
    • Reject: The pending participant will not be added to the group, and the Placed field will be set to No. This requires confirmation.
Note: Pending participants will not receive an email after they are accepted or declined unless you have set up a process to email them.
