Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about using SpeedCheck.
What Kind of Checks Can I Scan?
You can scan and deposit personal checks, money orders, bill pay checks, and over-the-counter checks with correct MICR information. This includes checks of various sizes.
When Are SpeedCheck Transactions Deposited?
Deposits are processed on the same day if scanned by 4:30 PM CST. Fees are based on the total number of checks, not batches.
When Will Funds Be Available in my Account?
Funds are typically available within 2 business days. Availability may vary for paper deposits; however, with SpeedCheck, funds are accessible as soon as the deposit is reflected in your account.
What Happens if a Check is Returned for Insufficient Funds?
When a check is returned for Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF), the ACS Support Team will notify you to manually update the transaction in ACS Contributions. Returned checks are processed as ACH debits. Checks under $100 are automatically retried once, while those $100 or more are not, but can be resubmitted upon request. An NSF fee applies, which is detailed on your ACS monthly statement. Contact the ACS Support Team to resubmit a check if funds become available. Do not redeposit the check by scanning.
Does SpeedCheck Work with Bill Pay Accounts?
Yes, you can scan and deposit checks from bill pay accounts like any other check; however, you will
need to set up a record for the bill pay account before scanning checks. You can do this on the Checking
Account Maintenance tab in Contributions Setup.
What if a Contributor Does not have a Record in my Database?
If a contributor lacks a record in your database, you can add one during check scanning. Contributors are matched by bank account and routing numbers, ensuring future checks with the same details are automatically recognized.
Does SpeedCheck Work with Split Transactions?
Yes, SpeedCheck accommodates split transactions. For instance, a $100 check can be divided, allocating $75 to the general operating fund and $25 to missions. When scanning a batch of checks, you can set the general operating fund as the default and manually distribute any remaining amounts among other funds.
How Long Should I Keep Checks After I Scan and Deposit Them?
Retain hard copies of scanned and deposited checks for a minimum of 14 days. You'll receive notifications about any returned checks within 3 days of scanning. Check images are securely stored for 24 months post-deposit.
