Set Up a Paid Registration Event

Create a paid event with registration types, costs, optional deposits, and payment settings.

  • Only available to administrators and users who have the Manage Events permission.

Once you create registration types for an event, you can assign costs to the event through the registration types. This lets you create different pricing depending on the type of registrant attending, such as child, adult, and senior. On the Payment Settings tab, you then choose how registrants pay and where their payments post.
  1. In the top-left corner, click your site name then Realm. Then click Registration Events > Upcoming.
  2. Click +Add Event and complete the fields to create an event.
  3. Click the Registration Types tab, then create the registration types for the event.
  4. Click the +Event Cost tab.
  5. Enter the cost for each registration type.
Tip: You can't modify cost for a registration type that's currently in use. However, you can make the registration type no longer available to registrants and re-create the registration type with the updated cost.
  6. If you want to require a deposit for the event, enter the deposit amount for each registration type.
Note: When you require a deposit, partial payments are enabled automatically.
  7. Click the Payment Settings tab.
  8. Under Payment Methods, choose how registrants can pay: Online & Offline, Online Only, or Offline Only. If you accept online payments, select the accepted online methods, such as Credit and ACH.
  9. Optional: To let registrants pay over time, turn on Partial Payments, choose who can use them, and enter a Minimum Online Payment Amount.
    • Select all registrations to let everyone pay partially, including guests without a login.
    • Select registrants with login to restrict partial payments to people with a Realm login.
Note: The minimum online payment amount applies to payments made after the initial registration.
  10. In the Payment Message box, enter any details you want registrants to see when they make a payment.
  11. Under Refunds, set a No refunds after date if you want to stop refunds after a certain point.
  12. In the Accounting Settings section, enter the Checking Account and Offset Account for this event's payments.
Note: This section displays differently depending on your permissions and whether Realm is integrated with Realm Accounting. For details on each field, see Paid Registration Events Payment Settings.
  13. Click Save Event.
