Reset Password for Someone

Learn how to send a password reset email on behalf of a user, using the "Send Password Reset" button on their profile page.

  • You'll need the Edit Individual permission.
With so many accounts to sign into today, many people forget which email or password is associated with each login. Staff can send a password reset email on behalf of any user with a login. Look for the new "Send Password Reset" button on the profile page, directly beneath the account email field. Use it to send a Forgot Your Password email without requiring the user to initiate it themselves.
  1. Locate and open the record for which you want to send a password reset.
  2. Under Primary Email, click Send a Password Reset Email.
The email should arrive in their inbox fairly quickly. If not seen in 15 minutes, ensure they are checking the associated email account associated, i.e. the one you show as the primary email. Alternatively, have them check their spam. See also Sign In Troubleshooting and Congregant Login Troubleshooting for more help.
