What Happens to Data when I Merge Profiles?

Merging combines data from two profiles into one profile.

Distinct and Additive Data

Most data is distinct. This means a piece of data from one profile is kept and the data from the other profile is deleted. Fields like Name, Email, and Address are distinct, as they only allow one answer.

Some data is additive, meaning you can keep data from both records. Allergies, Groups, or Pathways are additive fields. Individuals may have multiple allergies, or be in multiple groups or pathways.

When merging, you can make choices about which data you keep for distinct fields. You can also edit profiles after you merge.

Data after a Merge

After merging, one profile is removed from the database. The merged profile still exists with all of the data. Any data not chosen during the merge is removed from the database.

You cannot undo or unmerge a merged record.
