Campaign Field Information

Detailed information that could be helpful when you create a campaign.

Campaign Goal

The Goal column on the Pledge Campaigns page displays two important pieces of information. The top amount is the Campaign Goal you entered when the campaign was created. If a total was not entered for the Campaign then a double hyphen displays in the column. The number below the Campaign Goal can mean two different things depending on how it is displayed. If the number is red and wrapped in parentheses, that is the amount of money needed to meet the Campaign Goal. If the number is green and proceeded by a plus sign, that is the amount of excess money the campaign raised over the Campaign Goal.

For example, in the image below, the Comm. Builders (Habitat for Humanity) campaign still needs $41,000.00 to meet its Campaign Goal, while the Budget Fund (Tithes & Offerings) campaign has exceeded its goal by $6,793.00.

Campaign Dates

Pledge totals are already calculated for the campaign. Because of this, when you edit a campaign, you cannot overlap another campaign's dates or end before a pledge's fulfillment date. To apply pledges made before or after the campaign period dates, you can enable pre-payments or post-payments.

Visible Date

The Visible Date on each campaign is the date that pledges will display for your members. For example, your members want to view their pledges to your 2019 campaign in October of 2018, before the campaign begins. To allow this, set the Visible Date to 10/1/2018.

Pre-Payments and Post-Payments

You have the option to allow pre-payments and/or post-payments for pledges in a campaign. Pre-payments allow members to apply gifts to pledges before the pledge period begins. For example, if a campaign starts in January of 2019, you can set the pre-payment date to 10/1/2018. This allows members to give their pledges starting in October. Pre-payments can also be applied to pledges that start after the campaign date. For example, a campaign starts in January of 2019, but a member's pledge starts in Febraury of 2019. If you allow pre-payments, the member can give in January, and this gift will apply to their pledge.

Post-payments allow members to apply gifts to unfinished pledges after their pledge period has ended. If the option to Allow Post-Payments was turned on when the gift was posted, and it was posted before the post-payment ending date, the gift will be automatically applied to the pledge. If the Allow Post-Payments option was turned on after the gift was given, you will have to select the Apply to Pledge option on the individual posted gift.

Note:

Exceptions

In some cases, pre-payments and post-payments need to be manually applied to a pledge. This depends on when the pledge is entered in and how it is set up. Here are some examples:
  • A pledge is edited to begin allowing pre-payments. Any pre-payments posted before this option was enabled need to be manually applied to the pledge.
  • A pledge is edited to begin allowing post-payments. Any post-payments posted before this option was enabled need to be manually applied to the pledge.
  • A contributor has two pledges to the same fund. The first pledge is paid in full, but the contributor continues to give to the pledge fund before this pledge ends. If pre-payments are allowed on the second pledge, the payments will apply to that pledge. Otherwise, they will apply to the first one even though it is paid in full. In this situation, you can manually apply the gifts to the appropriate pledge.
