Apple has partnered with Candid to help nonprofits meet the requirements necessary to use Apple Pay. After the initial review, these requirements are checked daily to ensure that you're still in good standing.
We also communicate with Candid to ensure your standing is up-to-date in Giving.
- Your organization must be 501(c)(3) compliant.
- Learn more about what the IRS requires of nonprofits to remain in compliance.
- Your organization must be listed on the current IRS Business Master File (BMF).
- Verify that your organization is included in the Exempt Organization Business Master File (EO BMF). If you can't locate your organization, contact the IRS at 877-829-5500.
- Your organization has successfully passed an OFAC check.
- This compliance effort, mandated by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), confirms that the organization is not affiliated with transactions associated with sanctioned parties, such as those involved in terrorism, drug trafficking, money laundering, and other illicit activities.Note: This check is already run when you apply for a merchant account. This is solely for awareness on what Candid and Apple look for and requires no action from you.
- Current Candid Bronze Seal of Transparency (or higher)
- The Bronze Seal of Transparency is the lowest required level to begin taking advantage of Apple Pay. Learn more about how to earn it.
- Your organization has successfully completed a California AG Scan. (California only, coming soon)
