Profile Relationships

Identify how people in your church are connected. You can track relationships outside of an individual’s family record. This can include other relatives like grandparents and cousins, as well as other connections like coworkers and close friends. Note that each person you add as a relationship must have a Realm profile in your database.

These connections, which are only visible to Realm users with permission, can be helpful to your staff and pastors. For example, there is an emergency and a family member cannot be contacted. Or, a congregant passes away and you want to reach out to close friends and relatives.

Define the relationships you want to track. You can choose the “level” of relationships your church wants to track. For example, a small church may be better suited to track many relationships, whereas a larger church may only track those they see as most important. It’s all up to your church's needs!

Relationships are defined using tags, which are set up on the Relationship Tags tab under Profiles > Settings. We provided default tags to get you started, but feel free to rename them, add more tags, or remove the ones you don’t need. To do this, you must have the Manage Relationship Tags permission.

Add relationships between profiles. Each profile now has a Relationships tab, which is visible to users with at least the View Details for Individuals permission. To add a relationship on this tab, a user must have the Edit Individual permission. When you add a relationship, both profiles are updated, so you only have to add it once.

You can include relationships on the profile report, and use them in custom queries. Review the related help topics for more information and steps on tracking relationships.

Shepherd App

View all relationships on profiles. With the next app update, we’ve renamed the Family tab to Relationships on the profile. You will be able to view both family and other relationships for that individual on the Relationships tab.

Support

We've updated our contact information. Now when you visit the Realm Support page, you'll see a local phone number in the Support and Sales sections.
